The room was spacious and the facilities were decent, and we really enjoyed the spa. However, the sofa bed became uncomfortable after a while, and the lanai hadn’t been cleaned — it was covered in leaves and mud. The most frustrating part was the mosquitoes inside the room; no matter how many we killed, they just kept coming. While I understand that it might be difficult for the hotel to control, the reality is that during our one-night stay, we were woken up three times by mosquito bites, killed four mosquitoes, and my daughter ended up with seven bites. Overall, the accommodation was okay, but it definitely didn’t feel worth the price of over $300 per night.

From the gorgeous gardens to the huge rooms, our stay at the barn was one of the best on our road trip so far. Dining onsite at the steak house was delicious.. we will stay again if we get to mount gambier again.

Having stayed at the Barn many times In fact since the then new units were built We have noticed many things not keeping up to date with other Hotels No Coff pod machine & in our room 23 the Springs on the bed couch had given up Usually we sit on the outside chairs with a wine but everything was wet from sprinklers most of the time

The property and surrounds were lovely. The room was clean and well-presented. The only negative was that the room was very bright, as the bathroom door is made of glass and the bathroom blind doesn't block the light from the bright external lights. There are also bedside lights that can't be turned off, the wall switch just toggles them between bright and night-light mode. The staff at reception confirmed that this is how they are supposed to operate. Some people may enjoy this feature, so it's not a complaint. However, if you have difficulty sleeping with light in the room, this may not be the room for you. The Barn has many other rooms and units available, and not all of them have these lights.

Property is away from Mt Gambier city so you need a car. Car parking was easy as there was lots of space. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The house was older but renovated. Clean. Lots of space. There’s a kitchen, lots of dishes, cutlery and dishwasher. Separate laundry with washing machine, dryer and clothes airing rack which is a little broken but useable. Although it was summer, nights were a little chilly and all rooms had a heater but one didn’t. The steakhouse restaurant is a short stroll away and has excellent steaks, garlic bread and desserts.

King spa, fit for a king

The King spa room was divine. Gardens were divine too. The mini bar fridge was overstuffed so we emptied it in order to use it. There were quite a few little kids there which was surprising because the ads specifically said no children.
