Best: Room was exceptionally clean. It is clear they are working on upgrading the rooms. Ours had new windows and a new? Bed. Carpet and chairs are old but clean.

Our experience at the Carmel Bay View Inn was wonderful! The staff were friendly. The location is great. They upgraded us to an ocean view suite with a fireplace. We’ve been visiting Carmel for 25 years, and this was the best ocean view room we’ve ever experienced! Highly recommend!

The walls of these rooms are so poorly insulated that we could hear every conversation (and other things) on each side and above us. The ceilings above creaked terribly from the guests walking on the floor above us.

The staff and location are great. Property & room were clean and tidy. The tea/coffee service in the foyer is nice, continental breakfast is fine. Elevator is very small & slow to 3rd floor breakfast room. FYI, the swimming pool is drained in winter, so if you are in rooms 118-121, visually, you will overlook an empty concrete pool with caution tape on its gates. Also, the soundproofing in rooms 118-121 is not the best; the neighbor in 118 was doing a video conference call thru his TV at 9:30pm while we were trying to sleep - we had to call the front desk to have them ask him to keep it down. Overall, a pleasant stay for the price.

Check in was seamless and service was great! The room itself was very clean and spacious. Location was also perfect, close to downtown Carmel. The breakfast included was standard, but pretty good as well. No complaints and would definitely stay here again.

Affordable hotel for Carmel, in a great location, very clean room, and free parking was a plus. Room could have come with extra blankets, I got pretty cold in the middle of the night as we were there in Nov. Continental breakfast was as expected, pretty basic. Overall, a nice stay and good bang for your buck.

The check in was quick and the front office staff friendly. I got there about an hour early and they had my room ready which was nice. The room was too small for my taste and not very well lit. The place could probably use a remodel/refresh. The room was clean though. The air vent in the bathroom was very loud, I could only be in there for short spurts. and when the water/shower was on in the room next door, it sounded like a plane was taking off; I kept the bathroom door closed which helped keep my neighbor’s noise to a minimum. I appreciated the free breakfast though it was very basic. I am not a cottage cheese lover so I didn’t appreciate the scrambled eggs smothered in it. I actually asked the gal making the eggs if I could have some eggs before she added the cottage cheese and she either didn’t hear me or she chose to ignored me-wasn’t very friendly. Overall, it was a decent stay worthy of 3 stars.
