My boyfriend and I stayed at Excellence Oyster Bay from Saturday, April 12 to Saturday, April 19. While the resort grounds were beautiful and the waitstaff and bartenders were exceptional, we experienced a deeply troubling and traumatic incident that we feel compelled to share. At approximately 1 AM on April 16, we woke up to a strong electrical/fire smell and discovered our room was filled with smoke. Power had gone out in the entire room except the closet, and we immediately evacuated. Once outside, we realized the third floor above us was on fire. We heard two women screaming for help from their balcony — trapped and terrified. Alarming as it was, no fire alarms were sounding. We attempted to pull the alarm outside our room, but it didn’t work. My boyfriend ran to the main lobby for help and returned with staff who grabbed a hose and went toward the source of the fire. Still, there was no coordinated response or sense of urgency. The screaming from the trapped girls stopped, and realizing they hadn't been rescued, my boyfriend ran upstairs. He found the staff using the hose in a neighboring room — not the one where the women were trapped. He personally helped get the girls out, as no one else had taken action. At no point were other guests in the building alerted. Rooms were smoky, and many of us had endured long periods of smoke inhalation. We went to the lobby seeking next steps and were told to return to our rooms and pack.

If your room is by the entertainment area it is extremely loud! Seriously, don't even try to go to bed. It was so bad we had to change rooms.

1st all-inclusive beyond cruising. High-end property with the most service-related staff. Accommodations beyond expectations with VIP services included. Most advantages with VIP was upon check-in. Concierge services at check-in was amazing! Property well kept and maintained. Would like more activities to choose from rather than having to seek more fun off the resort. Restaurant food was top choice!

Always an amazing time at any of the Excellence Resorts! Oyster Bay did not disappoint! Kendra who provided bar service in the main pool area was fantastic! Shout out Kendra!

We loved everything about Excellence Oyster Bay, except for the service. When we asked a question to a staff member, it was as if we were bothering them. They would shrug and literally say "I dont know".

This resort seemed to lack the personalized level of service that other Excellence resorts offer. The biggest notable difference is the daytime entertainment staff who are not as engaged as the resorts in the Dominican are. The property itself is beautiful and in a beautiful location and they are constantly striving to upkeep and maintain it.

Absolute beautiful resort. Staff was extremely friendly. The room with the private pool was unreal. Spent each morning drinking room service coffee in our floats in the pool. They had a great variety of restaurants and room service was a solid options for a late night snack. CJ and Martin and the other entertainment staff had plenty of activities during the day to keep us entertained. The martini bar was the spot to be pre and post dinner. 10/10 would recommend.

The service was not good and very slow. Service at restaurants were not friendly or helpful. Didn't get enough towels or coffee each day had to call. Was awoken one morning at 6 am with leaf blowing outside side of door. Drinks were not good but, food was pretty good. Beach area and poor area is nice.
