The hotel Melby is an eloquent establishment that offers a bit of charm, great hospitality and splendid views of the ocean. We love our room, it is oversized with hard wood tile floors (a must) modern bathrooms and a comfortable bed. We had a magnificent stay! Highly recommended

Convenient property to spend time in downtown Melbourne. The hotel room furnishings are not high end, and some are looking pretty worn. The train whistles are INSANELY LOUD and especially noticeable starting about 5-6AM and occurring several times an hour. Impossible to sleep soundly past that time.

If you are a train enthusiast, you will love staying at the Melby. Cargo trains come every two hours and regular trains pass by every hour up until 12:00 am. The train conductors sound their horn every time they pass by the Melby. Maid service failed to show up, and the wait staff in the restaurant were unresponsive at best. This hotel is not for me.
