Hotel is ready for a major update. Room was clean but showed signs of wear. A/C was off when we went in room and room was hot. Room started to cool off and then got warm again. Staff responded promptly but said A/C compressor was going out so you can’t run it full blast. Hotel has no elevator- must walk your bags to 2nd floor. OK for one night but wouldn’t want to stay longer.

Our family has stayed at Ashmore Inn for several years. The location is very convenient to shopping, restaurants, and university events we attended. The property is located slightly further back from the access road than most hotels, which makes it feel more secluded and helps tremendously with road noise. The value for the money is excellent! The hot breakfast was very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. My only complaint is the condition of the mattress -- it was very hard, dipped, and uncomfortable, which interfered with sleep, even after a seven-hour drive. An upgrade in mattresses would make this wonderful hotel truly shine!

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean. Beyond that, not a comfortable stay. No smoke detector, broken locks, clogged bathtub drains, red stains on bathroom wallpaper, pool water and pool floor was too gross and chipped to use, weight room equipment was mostly broken or not fit for use.

Keycards never worked & opened the wrong doors all the time. Staff let people into rooms without checking ID. Furniture was stained & falling apart. Outside access doors were always unlocked. You could feel every spring in the mattress.

The AC worked well, the ice machine worked, and the shower water got nice and hot. The shower drained so slowly that the tub was ankle deep after just a 10 minute shower. The freezer part of the fridge was full of ice and could not be used. There’s no way that pool was heated. I had really looked forward to swimming. In six nights I was issued a total of seven keys. I was told sometimes the locks don’t work and they are 35 years old. I wouldn’t have minded as much, but my room was one of the furthest from the front desk. I would only consider staying here again if the price was right.

Don't waste your time

I would not recommend this hotel. The hallway and the room smelled terrible. They charged me more than what I had booked the room for. When I confronted then I was told that it had been corrected, but when I checked out it had not been corrected and was told that there was not a manager there and they would have to wait to try to refund my money!

Mediocre Stay

Front desk staff was very nice. The key kept not working which wasn't too big of a deal but had to go to the front each time to fix it. The sheets had makeup and other residue on it and made me question if sheets were even changed and the toilet didn't look like it was cleaned. It smelled like urine right outside our door and the room was very musty and humid even with the AC on. It even made our bagged snacks soggy from the humidity. Even so, it was still a decent stay. The dirty sheets are what really bothered us. And even though breakfast was included, there was no breakfast to get, went the first morning at 8am with an hour still left and found 2 pieces of potatoes and a cold biscuit left and a long line for waffles since that was all they had left. I guess they don't restock the food as people eat even when there is still an hour left of breakfast.

Needs Work

Walking into the room, there was a smell that I can't place that was unpleasant. Rooms were booked theoughout Lubbock so we opted to deal with it. There were cleanliness issues throughout the room. Hair on the beds. Hair on bathroom floor. Fruit Loop on bathroom floor. Walls need to be wiped clean. The television did not work. When the front desk was asked about it, we were told to reset the box and it would fix it. It did not fix it. We were told to call the front desk woth any issue only to find that the phone did not work. We went up front to let them know and were told the phone was a known issue. Then we were told it was because of the weather. The weather passed and it did not correct the issue. The front desk then came to the room and said that the wiring was run wrong. She had me make a correction and that did not fix the problem. She did offer to call the maintenance technician which we initially agreed to but then it got really late and we opted to cancel that and go to sleep. The problem was still there the next day.

Found a bed bug on me while I was sleeping, I was also getting bit. Extremely dirty! I want a refund for my stay. Asked the front desk to speak to the manager and she said she would have the manager call me the next day. Never got a call so I guess my next move is to contact corporate.
