Let me start off by saying that we had a wonderful stay at the Mantra PortSea.
The staff at the Mantra PortSea were fantastic. The apartment was clean and big enough for our family of five. We had the sofa bed converted to a bed for our stay. We had a small kitchen that meant we were regular visitors to Coles to buy some food and drink for our stay. The lack of on-site restaurant/kitchen was a bit of a pain point. The Lagoon Bar was open from 12pm-5pm but only serves fries and deep fried fish/tenders/calamari which is a bit limited for lunch options. The salt water pools at the hotel are lovely and the beach is a short walk. It’s a short walk up the beach to an area of sun loungers and lifeguarded sea swimming. We went on a croc sighting tour and the croc guys advised against swimming in the sea at four mile beach even though it’s monitored so we stayed out of the ocean.
The included breakfast buffet was fairly limited but served us just fine. There’s pretty good choice of cold breakfast items, and we were advised of this when booking. We walked the ten minutes up four mile beach every day into Port Douglas which has a bunch of shops, bars, and restaurants available. One of our favourite breakfast/lunch spots was Cafe Fresq.
We stayed at the Mantra PortSea for two weeks and were advised ahead of time that room servicing was only every four days. The room was only serviced twice during our stay but ideally it needs servicing slightly more because it gets quite sandy.
