This was an…interesting experience. Somewhat charming throwback of a hotel, yet obviously dated. Beverly at check-in was super sweet. When we got to our room and realized it was nothing like what we had booked, she offered to show me a couple other options. Know that there are many room layouts and what you see online is probably not what you’ll get. Bed was clean and comfortable. If you’re on the bottom floor, expect to see maintenance and housekeeping walking by your windows rolling bins of laundry and using equipment throughout the day. The shrubs need a good trim in order to make it a true oceanfront experience, otherwise you will only see the horizon. We had trouble with the heater/fireplace. Anytime we flushed the toilet it gurgled up through the shower drain and flooded the floor under the toilet. Maintenance came in a timely fashion, but I don’t believe this was a one time occurrence just for us. Taking a shower proved tricky in that the drain clogged up very quickly so you were ankle deep in the water. Very gross. The kitchen had all we needed as far as utensils, but just two of each regarding plates, bowls, cups. A couple more sets would’ve been helpful. Coffee filters would be a nice addition for those who bring their own coffee. Otherwise, prepacked Folgers filters are supplied. All in all, wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

I want to complain that there was nood a good check in system. the motel closed at 8 pm and they called me with instructions about where to find the key but it was not clear enough and we had to spend time looking for the key and it was late and i was tired. then, there was no hot water and we could not shower. we left as soon as we woke and had to find hot water elsewhere.

Do not stay in basement cottage 121. The stairway is littered & filthy, the handrail too low, and the rainwater/sand pools up by the door with nowhere to drain. I had to sweep it all out myself. Good thing it wasn't raining. It's like the room where they would send their least favorite stepchild. Very uncomfortable furniture, seats only three. No coffee table or reading lamps, room layout very awkward. I'm a short person, and the beds were way too high. Not enough blankets or pillows, brrr. The only way to heat the apartment was the electric fireplace in the living room, so we had to leave the bedroom door open.. Glad I brought a little space heater for the bathroom. Not enough utensils or plates. No way to step out onto the patio. I'm sure the other cabins were better than this one (each one is a little different). I really did appreciate the free wifi, and how accommodating they are for dogs with a nice grassy dog potty area that includes a doggie bag dispenser & trash can inside the little rain shelter, and extra linens for them to sit on inside the room. The maids do an excellent job of cleaning, and the desk clerk was really nice. The motel is at the top of a cliff, but there is access to the beach a couple blocks downhill. Be prepared for a steep walk back up the road. Be aware of the tide tables, because high tide can sometimes come all the way up to the stairs. Don't get trapped down there! I miss the old retro Ester mannequin in the lobby.

Parking was good. Fireplace is electric. Note there is no sofa, bath tub or hair dryer. The beds are very high. I awoke several times the first night to my dog crying because he couldn't get on the bed. I moved an arm chair to the bed on night 2.Very noisy as close to 101.

The Ester Lee Oceanview Inn provides a comfortable and rustic home base to return to after a day out exploring the coast. The windows from the rooms allow for a gorgeous view of the ocean, with ample space in the rooms for a longer stay. A kitchenette equiped with a cast iron skillet, and a fireplace to enjoy while watching the sun set below the Pacific. Running a shower at the same time as your neighbor will result in a very cold shower, which is great to get the day started. I was able to enjoy a few baths without trouble during my stay. Peace and privacy were both present throughout my vacation, and provided me with pleasant experience overall. I would highly recommended the Ester Lee Oceanview Inn to anyone.

It would be nice to have breakfast with the motels. There’s no instructions on how to turn the gas heater on. The seals on the windows is not good enough and you can still hear the wave crashing and it makes hard to fall sleep. Over all ok

The room is not clean, stain in the floors and then they lie and charge for what was there before, urine and stains from other dogs. Not enough utensils and you can hear everything from above or under. Very rude front desk and manager. Besides the view all is old and run down, not worth the money.
