We loved the location, but the room was a bit more rundown than the pictures on Expedia showed. We also requested a bathtub through Expedia and we received a shower with no bathtub at all. Not even one under the shower it was just floor. Anyway not problem necessarily but it was funny bc it looked like a locker room shower 😂. Otherwise the beach and pools were amazing. We spent most of our time out of the room anyway so it doesn’t matter how it looks. We would stay here again for the area for sure!

Poor hospitality & service

As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I was shocked by the poor experience at Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay. The staff were unfriendly and noticeably inhospitable, showing a general unwillingness to help with even simple requests. The property itself felt neglected. Elevators and carpets were old, worn, and dirty, and the overall upkeep was far below what I expect from a Hilton brand. For a hotel carrying the Hilton name, this level of service and cleanliness is unacceptable. I hope management addresses these issues quickly, as this property does not reflect the quality and hospitality Hilton guests should receive.

Generally fine. TV broke while we there. It was replaced on the last day. Parking cost was high. Resort fee was charged whether you used it or not. Pool was average. Probably wouldn't book there the next time.

Staff were very friendly. Beach access with a cove 😎, convenience to the stores, restaurants, airport- Superb! Its an old hotel but it didnt bother us. Hey! We're in an island! We'll stay here again.

I booked ocean views Jr.Sweet with Lanai room When we got there they put us in the handicap accessible dark corner room with lanai which vegetation grew all over hard to access and air conditioner bent right on the side that putting lots of heat and noise no way it was not useable lanai and no ocean view nor no view at all. And refrigerator was broken the maintenance guy came to fix but couldn’t so they brought another one to replace . What a way to start vacation So we complain there were no room available even we booked 3 month ago . But they said we can move next day. So we did New room was super perfect gourgous ocean view lanai we ate at lanai every night and enjoyed beautiful view. All the staff were very sweet and nice . Ashley and Carl were super great . Hotel needs little love and care it’s outdated there were wear and tears but the hotel were right next to state park so beautiful veiw. And the beach there were super beautiful and lots of fish great beginner snorkeling spot Oh there were 2 hour complementary bike rental but we found out we have to go to 2&1/2 mile away to rent them . We thought that was stupid we wanted to ride this gourgous state park right next to us but it was too far to go rent it. Also juccuze were cold when we got there for 2 days then next time we saw was broken sign so we couldn’t use it at all for lest of stay that was disappointed . It’s not name of Hilton standard but if I can stay that same room I would come back to this hotel again

I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lihue, Hawaii, and was disappointed with several aspects of the property. No Alhoa spirit there at all. Unlike most hotels in this price range, for an oceanview room, there are no balconies unless you’re on the first floor, and even then the setup is unappealing as you’re sitting outside on chairs placed directly on rocks. The view was overlooking a large grassy area with a playground then the ocean. None of the windows in the rooms open, which makes the space feel closed off and uncomfortable. I also found their billing practices frustrating — unlike the many hotels I’ve stayed in before, this property puts through two separate transactions, ( for the full amount twice) which is unnecessary and inconvenient. The pools were mediocore so much that one of them no one used. They charge for parking but they are the only hotel on the grounds so why? And its ppenty of space. They have horrible coffee in the room and in the lobby. The restaurant on site was expensive and not worth the money. The coi ponds smell awful and are throughout the lobby. The staff was not welcoming but not mean either. The beach its on was about a minute walk but its clearly for the locals as my view was mostly of them gathering with families and cooking out, playing sports, having dance rehearsals etc. It was not relaxing for vacation.

My room had roaches when i told guests services they treated me as if i was lying. The hotel was under construction. The elevator smelled.

The hotel was exactly what we needed clean, comfortable, and with cozy beds. The only drawback was the check-in time of 4pm and the “late” checkout at 11:30am, which didn’t feel much later than the standard 11am. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would consider returning.
