The property is just average. The bed sheets weren’t very clean, with visible yellow stains. Parking is located in a separate building, which requires crossing through a mall and walking across the entire basement to reach the lobby—quite inconvenient, especially considering the high parking fees.

The Barrington Hotel is a good option for visiting Halifax. The location is excellent and makes it easy to visit the city. The property is clean and the staff are very helpful. The only element that is not pleasing is the condition and obvious age of the furniture in the rooms. Clearly they are very old as, in my room, the paint is thinning on the console and the bed frame is coming apart at the seams (though it never felt unstable). If they replaced the furniture, this hotel would easily be a 5 out of 5.

The Barrington used to be a reliable, affordable option in a good location. It is NOT a fancy place, though, so I was shocked when rooms had gone up to almost $400/night!! For 2 DOUBLE beds, not even queen! I must have booked in a fever dream without looking at the price because I was shocked when I was told the price. It used to be half that. If you're going to charge 5-star prices, you'd better up those amenities and update the decor. Pool is small and weird.

I was hoping that previous reviews were inaccurate but they weren’t. Bed was comfortable and clean as was the bathroom. However the room itself and the other furniture and curtains is old . The staff at the front desk seemed to send a message of why are you bothering me rather than being cordial and hospitable.

The lobby and reception was good. The furniture in our room seemed dusty, the pull on the cabinet for the fridge came off and the cabinet was chipped. The inside doors of the elevators were streaky and lots of fingerprints for our entire stay. A little more attention to detail is needed. The Tempo restaurant was good and the servers were all excellent.
