This is our second stay at Monterey. This time it was for nine nights. As usual, rooms are excellent, beds are great and so on. Front desk staff does not seem to be familiar with activities around Kyoto and that's the main reason they're not getting 5stars. Other than that, this is a great property all around.

The spa was great! The rooms and much of the hotel need to be refurbished. The paint is worn in the elevators & on furniture. If you are getting a deal, it is an awesome place.

Great hotel! Great location! The rooms were wonderful with great amenities. Beautiful property. A little annoyed you couldn’t use the onsen if you had tattoos.

This hotel was fabulous! 5 stars all the way! Service and the spa amenity was over the top! Breakfast buffet was amazing, both cultures represented in taste, with great assortment as not to become boring after many days of indulgence! Highly recommended and can’t wait to explore the other boutique Monterey properties.

The hotel itself is beatiful breakfast is plentiful but little options for vegan the rooms are small the location is perfect. The onsen is very nice the only issue we had was that it was closed the evening we arrived without any advance notification
