We stayed here for four nights while in Kyoto. The location was great. Ideal for doing local shopping or jumping on the subway. It was also right in an area with a bunch of nightlife, which was cool to see, and didn’t have any negative impact on the area (Japan in general is very safe). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cross Hotel is a relatively new hotel and they keep it up well. The staff was very helpful every time we consulted them. They have a wonderful lobby to relax in and read. The breakfast buffet was included in the price, something that wasn't clear in the information I read, and it was excellent with both Western and Japanese options. Most important, the hotel is next to many of the most interesting parts of the city. In one direction it's half a block to Pontocho Alley; in the other, it's half a block to the main shopping street in Kyoto. It's a 12 minute walk to the best street to see traditional Japanese artisans at work (woodblock printing, lacquer, metal smithing, etc.). It's a 15 minute walk to the antique stores of Gion and major temples and shrines such as Kenninji Temple and Yasaka Shrine. A major subway/train station is a 5 minute walk. For these and other reasons, we plan on staying here next time we visit Kyoto.

The hotel location was great; easy walk to so many stores and restaurants and Kamo River. The hotel staff were super. They were polite, friendly, helpful and spoke multiple languages. Sending suitcases to the next hotel was super easy from this hotel. The room was super clean. The bath tub was wonderful and loved the shower as well. I would stay again.

Cross Hotel Kyoto was a wonderful hotel and we had an excellent stay. The staff is helpful and courteous, the rooms are clean and well designed, the breakfast had a wonderful variety of western and Japanese options. We did not plan to get the breakfast, but there are few breakfast options in the area that are open early. We're glad that we did.

Very nice property in a convenient location. It is, however, near many nightclubs and the parties went on until 6 AM all four nights of our stay. While the noise did not keep us up (we were on the 6th floor), it was certainly noticeable. But otherwise a great place to stay and that didn’t really detract from our visit.
