The Royal Sonesta Kaua’i Resort Lihue stands out as one of the most relaxing and beautifully maintained resorts on the island. From the moment you arrive, the staff set the tone with genuine Hawaiian hospitality—warm welcomes, easy check-in, and a true sense of care throughout your stay. The property itself is stunning, set right along Kalapaki Bay with lush gardens, open-air spaces, and the largest single-level pool on Kauai. The rooms are spacious, immaculate, and tastefully designed with island-inspired decor. Many have ocean or garden views that make mornings here unforgettable. Dining options are excellent, particularly for breakfast and sunset dinners. Duke’s Kauai, right on the property, is consistently fantastic, offering fresh local seafood and a relaxed beachside vibe. If you’re not dining, lounging by the massive pool or strolling the bay at sunset easily ranks as a highlight. Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. You’re minutes from the Lihue Airport, making arrivals and departures effortless, yet it still feels worlds away from the bustle. Whether you’re spending a few nights before exploring the island or staying for a full week of rejuvenation, the Royal Sonesta balances resort luxury with local charm perfectly. Hotel is beautiful with so many amenities. Airport shuttle was great, staff were friendly and room was spacious, clean, enjoyed having a balcony with a lovely view. The only thing I didn’t like was the remote for the TV. Difficult to switch channels and adjust volume!

Beautiful resort with very attentive and friendly staff. Bar at the pool was a great start for our stay. Good Poke bowls and drinks. Hot tubs were very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a nice size. The report was very clean.

We did our research beforehand and the Royal Sonesta truly delivered. The entire property was exceptionally clean and welcoming. The landscaping is stunning and the beach is rather calm and swimmable compared to other beaches on the island. The place is alive and everyone there is clearly having one of the greatest times of their life.

We loved our room, it was a ground floor room facing the pool. I travelled as a single mom with 2 kids and this was perfect. We could leave our pool floats and beach toys on the deck and go in and out. This made it so easy with the kids. The kids LOVED the kid pool and the big pool. Both were great! There was always enough chairs to sit, even if we didn’t get out there until mid day. The beach was AMAZING. The water here is calmer than at other beaches and there is less wind. I suggest renting chairs and umbrella from a rental place in town, that makes the beach experience perfect. We will definitely be back!
