We were really looking forward to a relaxing weekend away, but unfortunately our stay at Mercure Kooindah Waters fell well below expectations.
The room was not up to scratch. The lounges were uncomfortable, the TV kept switching on by itself during the night, and the overall setup wasn’t very child-friendly. It would have been appreciated.
Across both nights of our stay, the hotel was hosting school formal events, which guests were not informed about prior to arrival. This oversight resulted in us having to navigate groups of intoxicated teenagers, and my partner felt extremely uncomfortable using shared facilities while groups of loud, intoxicated young women were present and behaving rudely.
The dining experience was also below expectations. The lamb dish was overcooked and lacked flavour, the prawns were similarly overdone, and the overall standard of the meals did not align with the price point. In contrast, the cocktails were exceptional and were arguably the highlight of our visit.
Overall, our stay was marked by multiple disappointments, from room quality and incorrect allocation to a lack of communication regarding large events on-site. Had it been possible, I would have requested a refund, as the experience did not reflect the quality promoted by the hotel.
