Very average place to stay, unfortunately. The rooms were adequate (although the bed was uncomfortable due to our double being two singles pushed together and so the middle was a hard edge of mattress bump). The staff were generally quite inattentive (waited 15 minutes at the bar for one member of staff to walk past twice and ignore me). The breakfast was very average. My toast with scrambled eggs was burnt, the continental was okay, although no pastries. We wouldn't return unfortunately.

The hotel / bar staff were very helpful and friendly. Really good selection of food cooked to order. Plenty of onsite parking. Most importantly for us the hotel is extremely dog friendly. The walk into Durham city centre is approximately 10 minutes. We would stay here again and recommend.

A lovely friendly place to stay. Staff were excellent. Only a short walk from the city centre meaning we could park our car for free and leave it for the length of our stay. Evening meal was tasty and cheese and onion pie was plentiful. We didn't have a cooked breakfast but what we had was good .

Really perfect for our trip to Durham. Within walking distance of the university. Very clean and comfortable. We got a warm welcome from all the staff, and the dining room was a good place to get work done--even had charging at the booth.

No comfortable chair in room, very limited clothes storage Enormous dining room so perhaps a small part cou!d have more comfortable chairs so residents staying a few days could have a comfortable place to sit during the day

Recommend for visiting Durham cathedral

Nice Inn, about 10 minute walk into town. We don’t have a dog but there are woods at the rear of the hotel for walking your dog. Comfy room but bathroom had a bit of a drain smell, not sure why. Another guest said the same, so sounds like the drains need looking at. I asked for a quiet room but we were above the entrance so it was a little noisy but not too bad. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Annalise for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Very pretty pub with nice rooms above. In a great quiet location. The rooms were quaint but with modern amenties and well maintained. Breakfast was great as was dinner in the pub. The staff were very friendly.

Whistle stop

Saw Ella Henderson at the cathedral so only 24hrs in Durham but lived it. Comfortable twin room, super clean, was a hot night but fan provided. Helpful staff on hand with advice . Great breakfast, would definitely recommend and return.
