Stayed for Christmas shopping, shops disappointing but the hotel more than made up for it. All staff we interacted with were welcoming, smiley and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful and our evening meal in the restaurant was lovely. Bonus was the parking and late check out. Would definitely stay again if in that area.

Great room really nice overall good hotel Only negative went down for breakfast and cooked was not very hot. On last day after I had my food wither said to someone else would you like omelette or porridge. I would have chosen this. Otherwise very good will be back. handy for restaurants

Room and staff in the hotel were excellent, very friendly and approachable. The reason I have not given 5 stars was our experience at the restaurant, we waited for over an hour just for our starters, actually left before main arrived as we had been sitting in the restaurant for over 90 minutes which was not acceptable. We did speak to the catering manager and reception. We were told that there was a big group upstairs for an event, however this should have been accounted for and not affect regular diners in the restaurant. To end on a positive, we would come back to this hotel because location was perfect, amenities good and attitude of staff was really good and very welcoming.

Have stayed here a few times as both our boys are at Durham Uni. Lovely but expensive (for us) hotel, usually use Tesco vouchers to keep cost down. Stayed one night during Lumiere. Disappointed that only one bath towel in bathroom (two of us staying), shower gel bottle was empty, and husband waited ages and had to ask twice for his omelette at breakfast. All other stays have been fine.
