Tutukaka and Russell are game fishing hot spots; the beaches of Doubtless Bay are endlessly beautiful.
History has always been made in Northland. The Hokianga Harbour was the first Polynesian landing place, Russell was New Zealand's first capital and the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in the Bay of Islands.
Our Russell, Paihia and Opua accommodation makes a great base for appreciating all the great things that Northland has to offer.
Its history is rich and interesting. It is believed that the first Polynesian voyagers arrived in Northland during the 11th century. Today Waitangi is the seat of Maori culture, which is very much alive in this region (32 percent of the population are Maori). European settlement began in the 1840s, further enriching the region's colourful past. Our Northland accommodation is perfect for enjoying these areas.

's Far North is exactly where its name suggests - in the far north! On the scenic North Island
, it is the most northern point of the country and is home to some spectacular beaches and scenery, as well as heaps of attractions to keep you busy and ensure a great time for all. A great choice for a family holiday or a romantic interlude, the Far North district is home to interesting museums, pretty parks and gardens, and an abundance of terrific restaurants, as well as offering lots of opportunities to enjoy the best of nature and the great outdoors. With our great range of excellent accommodation in the Far North, wot's stopping you?
The stunning beaches are definite highlights of the Far North, with a great selection to choose from. The beaches are usually very quiet, with fewer visitors than those in other parts of the country; you may be lucky enough to have a whole stretch of beach completely to yourself! Some of the best beaches in the Far North area include Matai Bay, Coopers Beach, Ninety Mile Beach, Henderson Bay, and Taupo Bay. With swimming, sunbathing, camping, fishing, kite surfing and water sports on the agenda you certainly won't be bored! You can also visit Matauri Bay, which is the site of the ill-fated Rainbow Warrior wreck; there is a memorial nearby and diving is popular.
When standing at Cape Reinga Lighthouse and gazing out to sea, you would be forgiven for thinking that you had reached the ends of the earth. There is a whaling museum at Butler Point, and other places of interest include the ornate Nga-Tapuwae-o-te-Mangai Temple, Ancient Kauri Kingdom, and the Pohutokawa Tree that is steeped in spiritualism, symbolism, and mysticism.
Enjoy a game of golf in pretty surroundings, dine in elegant restaurants, and stay in our range of terrific Far North Hotels. Have a look at our flights to Auckland
