It was opposite Icon Barli full of shops and food outlets. Will stay there again, providing they replace both shower heads. The overhead rose needed at worst cleaning and descaling, replacing would prove a better option. The handheld shower head was damaged beyond repair

Comfort at an easy price.

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Large room; cleaned daily (although a smashed spider on the shower wall was never removed). Friendly staff willing to help. The only way to the beach is through the Icon Bali mall when it is open so sunrise at the beach was difficult but amazing. The traffic in this region was unbelievably bad.

Okay but there are better options in Sanur

Prices for Svarna are moderate but there are, in my opinion, better options around for a similar price. The place doesn't have any real Balinese character. There's nowhere to sit outside your room so you're stuck inside but there's only the bed or a writing desk and chair to sit on. The Hotels.com hotel information indicated there were bathrobes and a turndown service but there were neither. The Hotels.com site also advises there is a balcony but there isn't - it's just a veranda for everyone to walk along to get to their rooms. The room itself is generally fine - reasonably sized with good storage in the wardrobe which includes a safe (at floor level which makes it difficult to access). Good sized small fridge is provided. The lighting is okay although there aren't any proper reading lights and there are no bedside switches to turn lights on or off which is a bit of a pain at night. The bathroom is adequate though could do with some shelf space for putting your toiletries, etc. The pool area, while relatively small, is okay for a quick dip. There are three pool lounges on the deck. The staff at Svarna seem friendly enough but not always that efficient although I didn't have a lot of interaction with them. The hotel's location is one of its best features as it is close to just about everything you need or are likely to do in Sanur including the beach, shops and restaurants. Having a proper money changer (MPB) out the front of the hotel is handy too.

Decent hotel that falls far short of its potential

This little hotel has the potential to be a great stay however it will never happen while it is being run by untrained, unsupervised young adults with little concern for customers. Our room is only 6 - 8 mtrs from reception and due to the open courtyard sound travels well there. We were often woken up early by noisy gossip and chatter from staff talking to each other across the courtyard and from floor to floor with no regard for people sleeping. 2 Nights before leaving I had to get out of bed in my pyjamas and cross to reception to ask the two guys on duty to shut up. It was 1am in the morning and these two were having a loud conversation. Next morning the girls were doing the same right outside our door at 7am. These untrained 'kids' have no idea how to thoroughly clean a room. Cleaning is superficial and we had to ask several times for water or toilet paper or soap from reception because whoever cleaned our room 'forgot'. The 'free wi-fi' needs a booster as it is unreliable. Also the hot water system was awful taking 5 - 7 minutes from turning on till it got warm enough to shower. Besides all that our room was large and the hotel well positioned. The staff do help when asked to. our bed was a king and comfortable. All facilities were good and working (except the HWS and a patchy wi-fi). Price was reasonable. The rooftop pool is great and private but could do with a thorough vacumming. Over all a decent hotel that falls far short of it's potential.

Poor Service

Pathetic service due to poor management. Personnel nice but poorly trained. Need key to keep power/A/C on. Got extra key for this, but after 3 days they began to take this key. They would deny, arguements began and continued for days. Would tell me roommate had both keys, a lie, so, no power. After an hr. of much unhappiness on my part one night, magically, they produced electronic key for power but would not code for room access. Stay tuned, for this worst hotel experience of my life. Place does have potential under proper management. Room is spacious, bed is comfy, there is a fridge, but, bathroom needs proper cleaning/disinfecting and lighting to see in mirror is poor. There is a room safe but it's not bolted down. How dumb can you be? Bottom line, if not for their cheapness with the power, ok place for price. But, I'm ready to move to another hotel to escape the extreme agravation.
