We live locally and wanted a comfortable home where we could stay in one place with our out of town family. In other rentals we’ve had, there’s always been a guest book with information about trash pickup, where to put the trash cans, rules about use of the garage, appliances, and nearby community amenities. Perhaps we missed these things on the website, but we had to ask about checkout protocols and expectations. There was one maintenance issue upon arrival that we reported to through the website. The kitchen lacks lighting (out over the stove) and the hvac doesn’t keep the house a consistent temperature from room to room. Fireplace doesn’t work (a book would be helpful for things like this). Overall it suited our needs and was comfortable enough.
