Overnight birthday stay for my 8 year old. Reception was fast, easy and the customer service helpful and pleasant offering restaurant suggestions and pointing out amenities. Carver King rooms seem to be updated with a view facing their front lot, not staying for the view so that was irrelevant. Relatively clean room and rest of the hotel seems to be kept up though worn in some places. Pool and arcade were the reason for staying and didn’t disappoint. Lots of Ryan’s game machines to earn points from to put towards prizes as well as multiple claw machines, we now have an entourage of various stuffed animals accompanying us home. Be aware though that the arcade is an easy 80 degrees so stopping at the sauna is not needed if your playing. The indoor pool area was not warm. Clean but much cooler than most indoor facilities in and out of the water. Lifeguard/attendant having the slider door open in 40 degree rainy weather wasn’t helping the area around the pool either. In all my child was happy with the stay and we had no real issues to complain about so it was a decent stay at a reasonable price.

It was extremely difficult to find parking. There were two birthday pool parties happening so the pool was packed. Staff seemed annoyed at check in. Room was okay, but the “view” was a brick wall. Noises from the hall (doors opening/locking) kept my littles awake late because it sounded like someone was trying to open our door. The pool needed a deep cleaning. They had many pool rules, but no one was following them, making for some unsafe situations. My daughter scraped her arm inside the pool- there was no first aid/bandaids available. Kids won tickets on the arcade, but had to spend more money to get more tickets since the cheaper ticket “prizes” were “unavailable” despite being able to see them in the kiosk. No breakfast included- food was overpriced, cold, and they repeatedly made errors (asked for a hamburger for kids meal got a cheeseburger they reordered and still sent out another cheeseburger). Loved the area and being close, but would stay somewhere else next time. The parking issue alone was a turn off- they should have spots reserved for overnight guests.

First room we were in had dirty socks under the bed. Then the tv didn’t work. We moved to another room and the ac was blowing hot air. Woke up to the room being 87 when I set it to 67.

We ran the hot water in the tub for 15 minutes straight and the temperature never got above lukewarm. There was hot water in the sink. The walls between rooms do nothing to muffle sounds from other rooms. People talking loudly next door kept us awake from 2:30-5 AM. (And yes, we did ask them to keep it down.)

This was our 3rd time at John Carver. Reception was excellent. The location is awesome, under 10 minute walk to the waterfront, and shopping, dining, breweries and entertainment. Our room was clean and quiet. But walking down the corridor about 10:30 at night, some rooms with kids were very loud for that time of night and I was thankful we weren’t adjacent to them. The inn has an indoor pool, so there was a very strong smell of chlorine in the public areas, but not our room. Nice recessed lighting in the room, mini frig and a keurig. Plus CJs restaurant is accessible via an indoor hall from the hotel. Bed comfy enough, good water pressure in shower. HVAC system good as well.

Absolutely terrible, the day of they called to tell me their pool (the only reason we went) was closed for maibtance. They did nothing to accommodate us or even discount the room. They didn’t more the night or comp us for anything. Absolutely horrible

4th visit, 1st Disappointment

My daughter and I went for a few nights during Feb break to enjoy the indoor pool and slide and were super bummed to find the pool to be uncomfortably cold. She toughed it out for a little bit but even the pool room was unbearably cold to hang out in. This was the first time it's been like this and I'm hoping it will get fixed but I won't risk it again. On the good side, the room was nice and warm and the beds were super comfortable. We ate at the restaurant for every meal and really enjoyed the food and staff there. The arcade was good too since we had plenty of time on our hands with no pool.
