Salt Box II, One Block to the Beach
This is a new listing from an established Cape Charles Superhost!
The Salt Box II is a charming historic getaway one block from the beach. This Airbnb is one side of a duplex on a quiet, leafy street in the Historic District - a short walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, the pier, the harbor and central park. The other side of the duplex, The Salt Box, is also available on Airbnb and has 86 positive reviews. We're just a message away if you need any help before or during your stay.
The Salt Box is one side of an historic 1915 duplex. This two-story home is entirely private, with its own front and back door. Your side of the front porch is outfitted with rocking chairs, an important part of the laid back Cape Charles lifestyle, and your side of the back deck is outfitted with a gas grill.
Downstairs: The first floor of The Salt Box has original hardwood floors painted a soft coastal blue and an open layout with the dining room in the front of the house, the den/tv room in the middle and the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room in the back. The den can be closed off from the dining room and upstairs, which is great if part of your group goes to bed and others want to hang out downstairs. The Roku Smart TV has Netflix, Hulu Live, Amazon Prime and countless other streaming apps. The kitchen has stainless appliances and is fully stocked with utensils, pots/pans, dishes and glasses. You'll also find a bar area complete with stemware, highball glasses, wine opener, etc.
Upstairs: The upstairs has a large front bedroom with California king bed with an upholstered bed frame, a middle bedroom with a queen bed and a smaller bedroom with two single beds on the back of the house, next to the upstairs bathroom. All bedrooms have blinds and blackout drapes. The bathroom has been recently renovated with shiplap and marble tile floor and shower. Cape Charles is very quiet at night so you're sure to get a restorative night's sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.
The house has two separate HVAC zones, one downstairs and one upstairs.
Your Duplex Neighbors The other side of the duplex, The Salt Box, is also an Airbnb so you may cross paths with other guests on the front porch or in the back yard.
Guests have access to the entire private rental, plus their side of the front porch, back deck and back yard.
Cape Charles has been described as a 'hidden gem' on the Chesapeake Bay and as Mayberry - both are correct! Our home is in the Historic District, which is brimming with beautifully restored Victorian homes. Walk a block to the beach for the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen - we promise. We have a microbrewery, a cidery, a pub in an historic bank building, a seafood shanty, a neighborhood pizza place, bakeries and coffeehouses, plus a wonderful new & used book shop just to name a few. If you want a super simple, laid back beach getaway with lots of parking and no crowds, this is it!
It couldn't be easier! Park your car right out front on the street and put the keys away because you won't need them until you head home. You can walk, bike (if you bring your own) or rent a golf cart and get anywhere you'd like to go in town in five minutes or less. The person who booked the trip must be present for the stay or the reservation will be cancelled.
Furniture should not be rearranged. Please request assistance for any special requirements.
No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the house or outside the house on the porch, deck or property.
No crab/seafood boils or seafood deep fryers inside the house (deposit will be applied to deep cleaning).
Range hood exhaust fan must be used for all cooking.
No candles or other open flames (other than the grill provided) allowed on property.
No fireworks, sparklers, etc., allowed on the property.

Beautiful home, fantastic location!
We loved staying at the Salt Box 2! The house is so close to the shops and the beach—it made everything about the stay easy. Loved sitting on the porch and meeting friendly neighbors. The house is even prettier than the pictures! It was perfectly well stocked. We never felt like we had to run out to get something we were missing. Very comfortable bed in the master bedroom, and the blackout curtains are so helpful. Great for our group of 5 adults and teens.

Great house in a perfect location
Stayed with my family of 4 (2 daughters - 3 and 6). The house was a good size (even a bit big for us - with a 3rd bedroom we didnt use), clean and had everything we needed for the week. It's a short walk to the beach (1.5 blocks) and Mason Ave with all the shops and restaurants (2.5 blocks). Golf kart was fun to have but not required - if everyone is up for a bit of walking. Check-in and out were a breeze and Anna (the host) was very responsive and helpful on messages through the app. Will stay again!

OMG Awesome Fam Getaway to celebrate 95th BD
Loved, loved the comfy, beachy decor mixed with local art and antiques. The kitchen was excellent for cooking with an entire spice rack, and every utensil/appliance that you could ask for. Large coffee maker and grinder for the bring your own coffee snobs like us.
Our favorite fam pastime was sitting in the front porch rockers enjoying the warm breeze and waving to neighbors as they walked dogs and kids. One block access to the beach where we easily found parking to unload kayaks - there are many lovely marshes and deserted beaches to explore. The house had a great flow and feel for 5-6 people and everyone slept great.
We brought our own beach chairs and towels however they had everything if we had not, including interesting books and games.
Can't think of one thing that I would change!
