It was a great way to see the island. However, after the cost of the rental and camp sites, it isn't much cheaper an average hotel and cheaper rental car. There aren't a lot of camping options open to rooftop campers partly due to the hostility of locals to them. The mattress in our campers was much thinner than expected (and I'm a frequent camper), so I was uncomfortable every night trying to sleep in a hard surface, even after doubling with a second equally thin mattress after the first night. The staff was very sweet and responsive, although our vehicle was not ready for us when we arrived. We had to wait around an additional hour with nothing to do while someone cleaned and prepped.
