Separate toilet and shower rooms. No soap to wash your hands after you do your business, just a towel carelessly left over the tiny sink. Can we say germs!? The owners live on the top floor and every morning we were awakened early by their toddler racing and jumping across the their rooms over our bed. (None the less, she was very cute.)

It's in an excellent location, close to sites, restaurants, and subway station, yet quiet. The room was clean. The only thing is it does not have air conditioning. Even with the window open on 3rd floor, it was still quite warm at night. This was late August.

An easy hop on the metro, 2 stops southbound from the central station. We had a lovely time at the hotel. It's situated in a treelined neighbourhood, walking distance to museums, shopping, and a grocery store. Very relaxing.

Our stay at Hotel Asterisk was delightful! The Hotel is situated close to everything but in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. The family that run the Hotel went out of their way to make our stay memorable. They have a lovely dining room that accommodated our 8 friends, some staying in the hotel. We had a couple of get togethers here and dinner one night which really was above and beyond. We highly recommend staying at Hotel Asterisk.

Jackhammer noises and road construction behind the property were added ‘benefits’ that awaited our stay. Since there was no mention of this in any description or communication, and the rate was comparable to other high-end hotels in the area, it was quite an unwelcome surprise. It appeared that half the street had been torn up, with more work continuing throughout the day. We were told the construction had just started, but since we booked the room the day before our arrival, it was hard to believe they didn’t know it was happening. Their remedy was: ‘So sorry, out of our control. All rooms are affected, so it won’t help to move you. We can offer you a beverage or a glass of wine. That’s it. Neither I nor my colleague before me has the authority to offer anything else.’ Moral of the story: ask about the situation before booking. This ‘family-run’ hotel—whatever benefit that’s supposed to imply—might mean you’ll be treated like anything but family.
