We stayed in one of pet friendly rooms which was lovely built on to the side of the pub and came with out door seating . We had our evening meal in the bar with our spaniel which was lovely .the staff were lovely and made us really welcome

Superb pub with rooms some of which are pet friendly. The bar area was open to dogs and we met quite a few well behaved pooches. The food is the same whether restaurant or bar and is excellent. The breakfasts are worthy of mention, eggs were delicious. Staff are lovely helpful and seem very happy in their work. They could not do enough for us. Excellent large car park with quick access to reception. Needless to say surrounded by beautiful scenery, Lakeland views and set in a quiet location . Brilliant short break.

Lovely stay but room 3 too close to kitchen area constant smell of seafood , I would definitely stay again but would request a different room , I have stayed before room 5 which was excellent, staff and service received were excellent , lovely area , would definitely recommend

What a great find in Winster. The Brown Horse Pub did not disappoint. We stayed in the external King room ( non pet) and it was lovely, clean and tidy with daily housekeeping. The bed was very comfortable and plenty of tea and coffee supplied with biscuits 😀. The private patio was a bonus with great views. The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious and cooked fresh, with plenty of choices. Plus you also got continental breakfast additions of fruit, yogurt, cereal selection, juice, pastries that were warm , fresh bread for brown and white toast, lovely fresh coffee and tea. The main dinner menu had a great selection, and accommodated to all. We dinned in each night instead of going into Windermere, that’s how nice the food was. A good selection of beer and wines plus spirits in the bar . The staff, well they were all first class! Friendly, helpful and always smiling. What’s not to like about this pub, beautiful inside with wooded beams and comfortable seating. Outside with plenty of garden seating and the view was amazing. We will return here and we cannot recommend The Brown Horse Pub enough. Just a note : The pub is dog friendly and there are the woodland Pods at the rear of the Pub ( but we did not look at those) Stayed in External Room 7 from 22.09.2025 to 26.09.2025

A wonderful place to spend your time!

I had a wonderful time. The staff is very lovely, respectful, and helpful. The food and room are amazing. I love the Victorian style of this place. I wished I were staying longer.

Lovely stay in the lakes

Just spent 3 nights at the brown horse, very pleasant stay.Great food and drink, a choice of ales. Very friendly staff, great service. Dog friendly rooms were good size and very comfy, even got a welcome pack for the dog. Very clean, with everything you needed, overall very nice stay, will definitely revisit.

Excellent weekend at the brown horse inn. Really friendly staff, great food and drink and a lovely spot. The bedroom was big enough and very comfortable. Excellent breakfasts. Service in the restaurant was always friendly and accommodating.
