Charming historic hotel with unpretentious comfort

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hotel Coolidge (with 19th century roots) because it is so old-fashioned and quirky. The furnishings were simple—no phone chargers here—but clean and comfortable. The linked room was perfect for me and my teenaged son as they were separate rooms linked by a bathroom. The hotel is downtown right next door to a delicious Turkish cafe and pastry/breakfast shop. The only potential downside was freight trains running by quite close to the hotel overnight several times, with lots of whistling. I thought it only lended to the ambience but it did wake me up. I intend to be a frequent visitor to the Coolidge!

This is a very old hotel built in the 1920's that still has some charm, but mostly is in need of some updating.The first thing you notice is the awning over the front door, we were wondering if we wanted to stay here! We walked in the lobby which smelled musty and needs re-decorating. Tom at the front desk was friendly. The room and bathroom were clean, so ok for one night. Overall this seemed too expensive for the condition of the place. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.

Pricy for accommodation but nice old building

Nice staff- 130 rooms and most are rented to long term renters perhaps in need of that community resource. All were pleasant but it was an odd mix. Room could have been cleaner(mirror, around sink) I wanted a walkable place and it was. Train was nice across the street but wouldn’t want to hear that everyday

Hotel Coolidge is trapped in the 1950’s - bathrooms and room decor was very dated and utilitarian (being kind). Hotel has its charm and history, but on-line photos are deceptive. My wife would never have stayed here (I can camp in my car). Staff was super friendly.

Untouched since Coolidge’s time

A one night stay - breaking up the drive from there to here. It served its purpose. Seems like not much has happened here to upgrade or improve since Coolidge’s time. Like the building subsidence, causing the floor to slope 4 inches from one side of the room, to the other. The bathroom door that couldn’t be closed (related to subsidence). The defective TV that - after you turned it on, and waited (as directed on the screen) sounded like a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. The sounds of trains from the junction was quaint, though and didn’t impair sleep too much. If it had been warm outside, the window AC unit would have replicated the train sound all night long. But it wasn’t so we could turn it off right away

The hotel staff are all very very friendly. I like them a lot! The building is an old apartment building, not an excellent property, but pretty well managed. My suggestion to guest here is to not have breakfast in the downstair smoothie place. The smoothie is made out of some pre-mixed powder and did not strike us to be healthy or tasty. And it is expensive. I like the Turkish restaurant on the corner - forgot its name - though also pretty expensive. it seems nothing around the area is priced reasonably, the difference is quality.
