This is a truly special place. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. Our room, with its amazing view across the lagoon, was spotlessly clean with all you could possibly need. A special mention must go to Ivan for all his care and wonderful recommendations and also to Marco in the bar for making us feel so welcome. We will be back!

What hotel asks for a 5% tip on the room rate?

At check out, the staff added an automatic 5% tip on the room rate, and was able to maintain a straight face. When I stared blankly back, he said it was optional.

This is a beautiful modern hotel that is very centrally located. It is an easy 10 minute walk to San Marco square, and there are lots of great restaurants less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Water taxis pick up and drop off directly at the hotel. The rooms are quiet, clean, modern, very well appointed and have comfortable beds. Breakfast was great and we really enjoyed sitting in the beautiful courtyard each morning. One added bonus was that the hotel offers a complementary tour to the Murano glass factory. We would definitely stay here again and we will recommend this hotel to friends. The only negative is that upon checkout they added an “optional” 5% “employee benefit” (ie. tip) onto the bill. You can choose to pay this or not, but it’s a little uncomfortable to ask them to remove it.

The hotel itself is fantastic. The staff is very friendly and informative. There are some unfortunate high cost elements to it. $30+ USD cocktails that don't have premium spirits for example. At checkout, they automatically apply a 15% gratuity to the whole bill, room included. They give you an option to remove it, as the whole staff looks at you to see if you will do it! There are tip areas for every bill you get for food/drinks while you're there too. You feel like you're in a very American environment where there is a constant ask for a tip. We're always happy to tip but applying it to a room rate felt unnecessary.

Just a beautiful property! Impeccable and beautifully decorated rooms and property. Amazing and friendly staff. Delicious cocktail drinks. Love the complimentary water taxi ride to Murano Island! Love the breakfast box for early mornjng departure! Love that it’s just on the perimeter of the busy San Marco. Queit nabe with lots of delivious restaurants. This is a fancy nice retreat!
