Great place. Not for everyone.

We really enjoyed our stay. Period. The short version is that we'd highly recommend this place and stay here again without a doubt. A few details to make this more useful. When we got to the lobby, there was a particular scent/smell. Not strong, and we could not tell what it was and we probably got used to it. It was not bad, probably being in an old city with old buildings. We booked a regular room first, then decided to go up to a park view one, and were not disappointed. Incredibly nice view above the trees on the 10th floor. The room was bigger than expected, comfortable and clean. And the view was just a nice, green welcoming thing every morning. Two things to keep in mind: if you want all friendly smiles 14/7, this is not it. Some front desk folks were super nice and friendly, others were still correct, but more on the serious side, not a ton of emotion, smiles or anything. Not bad, just probably unexpected when the person that received us the first day was friendly. English was understood mostly. And you may find there is a VIP thing in hotels.com for this one, but the money won't give you much here as there is no room service, bar or restaurant. They did have some free snacks and water, coffee, etc and they left a banana and some more snacks for us daily. And the neighborhood is quiet and nice and good location, at the center of everything we wanted to do. But depending on your style, maybe far. We loved walking 5-15 miles per day... or you may need to jump on train?

Great location and classical-styled rooms

Park view room was excellent. They have a 19th century theme going on, very tastefully and cohesively done. Location is perfect to explore the city, especially with the MRT next door. Highly recommended.

Great Renaissance style hotel in excellent condition Hotel lobby area is fairly small but the rooms are very spacious, clean and elegantly decorated. The hotel location is excellent and very closed to Metro station and Daan Park. Will definitely come back again!

The hotel is located opposite the Da An park. I had a good view from room with trees and park view. The hotel is a bit old fashioned but clean. The verbena shower gel and shampoo is nice and the bathtub Jacuzzi is great! Except for the terrible staircases without lift at Metro Exit 1, overall the hotel is good. I will stay back again if I travel TW next time.

Ideal location, courteous staff

The Rido Hotel is situated in one of the most desirable spots in all of Taipei, directly across from Da’an Park. In addition to being a hub of activity for Taipei residents of all ages and stages, it boasts well maintained paths through beautiful ficus groves and flower beds, past a pond that is home to dozens of water fowl. This spot is also less than 10 minutes to the popular and lively Yongkang district, with shops, restaurants, and street life. The staff at the Rido were especially gracious and accommodating. Their standard of customer service is high. Lastly, the hotel boasts a neoclassical style of design and appointments. The bed was very comfortable, the room very spacious, and the bathroom downright cavernous, with a shower stall and jacuzzi tub.

We stayed in Room 303, and unfortunately, the mattress had a very strong odor. We requested a change of bed sheets, but it didn’t help. Also, a family with children was placed in the room above us, and we constantly heard loud noise from the kids running around. We called to report the issue one night, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. The room’s soundproofing was also poor—we could hear traffic noise from outside the window and even the sound of someone showering in the next room. We just tried to get through it since we were only staying for four nights.
