The Thais might describe Surin Beach as 'hai so', literally high society, and although this reputation is deserved with the great number of luxury resorts and millionaire mansions, this beach is open to all comers. Surin can boast one of the best beaches on Phuket
and part of this is down to the lack of development encroaching onto the sand which leaves the beach to show itself off in its full glory. White sand and turquoise blue sea are terms used too frequently but in this instance they are genuinely true.
We offer a range of Surin hotels from the upmarket resorts the area is renowned for to the more affordable options. Even though the area was hit badly by the 2004 tsunami it has largely recovered and the Surin Beach hotels are back up and running. Much like Kata beach further south, Surin beach can be divided into two distinguishable seasons. From November to April the sea is tranquil and the swimming is superb and unsurprisingly this is the high season but from May to October the swells pick up around the coast and some small surfable waves roll into shore. Although Kata is the surf capital of the island, Surin has a worthy reputation for some fun waves but caution should be taken as rip tides have been known to take lives in the past. If surfing isn't your thing there is always the option of snorkelling as some areas around the rocks are full of brightly coloured tropical fish.
Within walking distance of your Surin Beach hotel will be a variety of excellent restaurants ranging from tasty local cooking to trendy and pricier establishments which are more likely to entice the resident millionaires. There's also a selection of bars to help wind down in the evening after a tough day applying sun cream on the beach although the bars are more numerous during the peak season.
