The property was great. The pool and bar area were awesome. The restaurant was nice. The mattress was terrible. One of the worst mattresses I’ve ever slept on. A king size mattress and you could feel every movement the other person made. Neither of us are overweight either so that wasn’t an issue. After tossing and turning all night because I couldn’t get comfortable my back has hurt all day. Maybe it was just this room. I can’t imagine with as good as the reviews were on this place that all the mattresses are that bad.

I loved that you have access to the pool next door! The staff at the Avalon were very friendly, and the Hollander next-door was very reasonably priced and had delicious food! Don’t miss out on the drinks at the pool bar! We would definitely stay here again. It’s within walking distance to everything.

Best Stay in St. Pete So Far!

THIS HOTEL ROCKS! They provide access to the pool next door at the Hollander, and we were given complimentary white wine on one of the nights. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, but plenty of dining options, and the decor is kitschy and fun. Parking is included, which is great for this area.

We were there to celebrate our graduate. The Avalon hotel was very clean, with friendly staff, and the location was great for our agenda. The decor was nice, the rooms are painted pretty dark, not a lot of room light unless the curtains/blinds are open and we were first floor, so that didn't happen. The bathroom was very small, but workable if you're adaptable to using the ironing board for a counter. My husband doesn't need much space so he was fine. My only other downside were limited access to wall plugs! But I usually plan for that, I require several electronics when traveling. I carry a 6'ft extension cord (simple/easy) when I travel everywhere! I would recommend the Avalon and definitely stay there again. IMO it was great value for our purposes. Recommend without reservation!
