The George River offers some of the best trout, blackfish and bream fishing in Tasmania. Why not try your hand at fishing on our own private and secluded part of the river.
We are the perfect launching pad for exploring some of Tasmania’s beautiful East Coast heritage areas such as The Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula, the East Coast wineries, extensive hiking trails, waterfalls and the world-famous mountain biking tracks around St Helen’s and Derby. We selected this property specifically for fishing opportunities as alluded to in the listing. No bites from any point of the river on property and only area easily accessible to the shallow river was the “beach” which is an embankment. Per host’s recommendation we drove off road (need FWD) approx 2 mi to another property access point-no fish. *We discovered Beauty Bay jetty in St Helen’s to be a wonderful fishing spot-<10 min drive.

Everything was perfect!
Perched above St Helen’s, this property had it all! Panoramic views, access to a private beach and river access, cute animals (the reindeer was our favourite) and a huge clean modern house which was a home away from home. We loved everything about our stay and couldn’t recommend this property enough. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again 😊

Amazing views!
Very large home with absolutely stunning views. My six year old enjoyed running laps around the open plan living space, and the bedrooms were enough removed that everyone could sleep through her early morning hijinks. We all enjoyed feeding the animals and walking around the property. Given the bad weather during our stay we especially enjoyed the well appointed gourmet kitchen and the comfortable sitting area with Netflix on quite a large tv. The heat worked a treat as well. This trip has been a long time in the making for us, and with COVID we rescheduled multiple times. Hugh was so patient and flexible with us, I am extremely grateful for his hospitality! With any luck, we'll be back again for some nicer weather.

George River Park
The overall experience at George River Park is exceptional. We stayed here with a group of 8 friends to celebrate a wedding with a relaxing weekend away. Picture a beautiful, big, modern and open-planned house, perched on the hill of an idyllic 100-acre block of farm land (including a whole host of animals and a private river on the property), with stunning views over St Helens, the George River and George’s Bay. The property is totally private and secluded, inherently peaceful, yet just minutes away from the St Helens town center or the breathtaking Bay of Fires. Hugh and Celin present themselves as excellent hosts, the house is in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. The ease of access to the property and the reassurance and support from the owners (who are genuinely invested in making your stay as effortless as possible) over our stay made things a breeze. Overall, I could not recommend this stay highly enough. The experience that you and your group will receive, given the price, is excellent. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Hugh and Celin!
