The rooms need updating. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, no microwaves in the room. Maid service does a poor job cleaning. The pillows are horrible and all for the price of a really nice resort… I won’t be staying there again.

Felt ripped off for the price

This hotel is overrated. The common areas are beautiful and well cared for, but the rooms have many issues. I was there for an event, and other events were co-occurring. The sound was not loud, but the lack of noise reduction barriers made it so bad that you could hear the music from the next-door event. This wasn't good since we paid for tickets to attend the event. Room issues: - Overall: The place is old and needs some profound renewal for the almost $400 I paid for a one-night stay. - Office: The desk chair was uncomfortable and old. You could not even make it go up or down, so the entire time you were down, you had zero cushion and were very uncomfortable. - Bathroom: There is no air extractor, just a vent on the wall. The bathroom sink is clogged and backed up; you can hear it bubbling even when it is unused. The wallpaper is peeling. - View: Amazing lake view, but the windows were blurry, either old or dirty. - It is nice to have a fridge, but it needs to be defrosted because it looks like a very old model. -If you are thirsty, your one bottle of water is $7. -If you arrive in your vehicle and dare to park it, you pay $12 per night. I am upset that I must pay 5-star hotel prices when the rooms are so deficient, regardless of how great the common areas look. The only exception is the sound protection between event venues, which is also an enormous deficiency.

Nice for a night or two.

The hotel, amenities and restaurant were nice. The water had a strong smell of sulfur. The fountains were nice to look at but made the area also smell. The restaurant was good. The music was good but when we brought the kids to bed after dinner we could hear everything from the restaurant and lobby area because there was a 2” gap under our door. We put towels infront and that helped a little. We booked on hotels.com and paid extra for a lakeview room but were put in one. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. I would go back again if I needed to stay in the area.

Overall, the stay was good. The only thing that I thought was ridiculous was being charged a fee to park on the hotel lot when there was no parking at night. It seemed like plenty of people that were not guests were parking in the lot and I am being charged to park there when it's not available to the guests! That's just ridiculous and unacceptable.

Not quite what I was expecting. First, I reserved a room with balcony, when I checked in I was not told I wasn't getting a room with a balcony, instead i was put on a regular room. they claimed that Expedia overbooked. On top of this I was not given the regular room rate. I just realized I got charged a rate for balcony even though we did not get into a balcony room. To make things a bit interesting the bathroom on the room we got ( 425 ) was dirty, the shower dirty, hair all over the tub, the shower drain has rust all over, barely toilet paper and no Cleenex paper towels( box was empty ), that tells me right there that no one looked at this room before deemed cleaned and ready to be occupied. For how much Marriot charges ( $300/ night w fees and taxes ) in this hotel, booking and most important cleanliness in the rooms should be priority #1. Disappointed at the product since I have stayed at other Marriot's hotels before and had no issues.

Think it’s a bit ridiculous that they charge $12 a day for parking in their parking lot. There is no security services that warrants customers being charged.

The resort and property were beautiful. The staff was excellent and we enjoyed the stay. We had a slight issue with check in but the Front Office Supervisor, Brandon Wynes, stepped in and solved the issue quickly. Our stay was great and we would recommend this resort to others.

The negatives: The property is aged, and in need of serious renovations. There was mold in the shower and around the toilet. This fell below the expectations typically experienced with the Renaissance brand. The positives: The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a serene staycation, and not concerned about the property aesthetics.
