Wonderful gem

The Rias house is really a detached condo of sorts. I was confused to begin with. There is the main house - small kitchen/dining area leading to a large, covered outdoor seating area (also the main entrance to the house), bedroom and bathroom adjoining the kitchen/dining area with additional bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Just below the covered outdoor seating area are stairs leading down to a separate living area on the rocks overlooking the ocean containing another dining/kitchen/bathroom and a huge outdoor deck. We spent most of our time down here....large sliding doors that literally extend the living space outdoors. The condo is located in a private 'beach club' that must really bustle in the summer months. On Sunday during our visit, there were families sailing and swimming in the beach club area and it was lovelly to share the beach with them. The Rais House is approximately 45 minutes from Palermo. A small car is an absolute must not only to access local area sites/services but to navigate the road leading to the condo/beach club. The road is very steep with two switchbacks that require backing up to negotiate the turns. Don't forget your International Driver's License!
