Accommodation In Rutherglen

Stay in our Rutherglen accommodation and discover this historic goldmining town at the centre of one of Australia's most well regarded wine regions. Rutherglen is located in east corner of the Murray River valley plains, approximately three hours' drive from Melbourne.

Rutherglen was established in the 1850s as a gold rush township and many of the original buildings and shopfronts still remain, giving the town a charming historic character. Wander down the Main Street and stop for refreshments at one of the many cafes, tea rooms or restaurants.

While staying in our Rutherglen hotels treat your taste buds at the 20 local wineries. The Rutherglen Wine Experience Visitor Information Centre, located on the town's Main Street, is a great place to start your visit as it provides information on wine making and the town's history. The Rutherglen wine region is best known for outstanding fortified wines, especially muscats, but also is well regarded for robust red wines and crisp whites. The area also boasts delicious fresh produce including Murray cod, trout, honey, cherries, berries, nuts, chutneys and preserves. Why not pack a picnic full of local treats and head down to Apex or Rutherglen Parks which surround Lake King. Or stroll down Campbell Street and check out the wine bottle shaped water tower.
