If you’re looking for a place that’s affordable and centrally located, this is the place. About a 10 min walk from the Coliseum, 3 min walk from St. Mary Major Basilica, less than 15 min cab ride to the Spanish Seps. If you don’t plan on staying in the room very long and your touring the city all day, this hotel is great for that.

Close to transportation. Reasonably priced. Eateries everywhere. I, like so many others did not like the shower, it was as like showering in a casket. Overall I enjoyed my stay for 3 days s.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Prior to arrival, the hotel was paid in full. Upon arrival, the front desk stated that the tourist tax must be paid in cash & card would not work. He instructed my husband to find an ATM & would not allow us to check in until it was paid. After walking to 3 ATMs we were able to find one that was working. Checking in, the staff made a copy of our passports & informed us that EVERY TIME we exited the hotel we must return the room key to the front desk. This seemed a bit strange to us, the staff stated that the key is better left with them. Everytime you would request your key back, the staff would have to reactivate the key for you (sometimes forgetting & you would have to go back downstairs for reactivation). The staff would also act like they are doing you a favor, many times too busy on their phones to greet you while tossing your key back. On the second day of our stay, our room was “cleaned” & only one of two towels were replaced. I asked the front desk staff if we were able to get an additional towel since we only had one towel for two people. The staff member went in the back behind the staircase where the clean towels are stored & stated that she did not have one additional towel to give me & that the towels back there were for tomorrow. We found another hotel & upon leaving I asked for a receipt, however the staff could not find any evidence of my stay, & told me that she could email me a receipt tomorrow. Terrible place, terrible experience.

Had stayed here previously yet this was a very different experience. We were rushed at breakfast and pushed to move whilst trying to make breakfast. We'd paid for breakfast and were told its from 8-10 yet staff were cleaning up and food wasn't refilled at 9am. Staff atcdesk were reluctant in answering questions so we were reluctant in asking. Wouldn't recommend it again!

Front desk workers were a bit abrasive. We were required to “turn in” our room key every time we left the hotel and had to pick it up again upon return. AC did not work well at all, breakfast was one of the worst I’ve ever seen at a hotel especially for the price they charge for it.

Acceptable hotel in Roma Termini area.

Overal if the pricing is a regular market price around area. Then it’s a valuable and fair. Staff are friendly. Clean and really convenient. Around hotel street, it’s secured. For the breakfast, overall, you won’t be complained ( how much you paid, how much uou get.) Middle of May, 2025.

Convenient to Roma Termini and many restaurants. Breakfast was good and a time saver in the morning. I would recommend this property primarily because it was similarly priced to other hotels in the vicinity that didn't offer breakfast. The dining room has plentiful seating. We were always able to find seating.

Disapointing Stay

Really disappointing! Would not stay again, firstly, no kettle in room, nor tea/coffee facilities either, instructed to buy a flask for staff to fill, then when requested, asked for 2 Euros for each flask of hot water. Beds were super uncomfortable and hard, air conditioning didn’t work, just blew out hot air. Curtains were not blockout, albeit did not cover the full window to prevent light. The bathroom was old, the shower temperature control was a challenge, couldn’t maintain an adequate temperature.

We are regulars to this Hotel and everything went well through check in, in fact they gave us an upgrade, however when we went for breakfast there were so many visitors there we just took two apples and started to return to our room. I was approached by the manager to return to the front desk where I was told I could not take the 2 apples to our room and had to eat them in the dining room. I was shocked and totally embarrassed by this action in front of other guests, this was done even though I am a longterm customer. The apples were left, we checked out, they came running after us saying they were sorry but the rules were clear all food had to be consumed in the dining room. We were not taking the apples out of the building. So for future guests who will be chosing this hotel, be sure NOT to take any food out beyond the dining room. As for us, we will never retulrn to this hotel again

Another stay at the Contilia

This hotel is convenient to the airport bus (9 euros per person oneway), Rome Termini rail station and local nus services (1.50 euro per person per trip). We always stay at the Contilia when we are in Rome amd have noticed a slight downward trend to their complimentary breakfast however all service snd staff are gresy.
