My room was in deteriorating condition. Carpeting is old. Radiator in bathroom is falling apart; while not needed as they have an a/c unit in the wall, it should be removed as it is unsightly. Dirty baseboards which need to be painted. "Breakfast" was a joke, just a waffle maker, some low quality bread and coffee that ran out after I filled a small cup. The lack of attention to detail was appalling. Outdoor planter bed next to my unit was all dead grass. I don't know why this property gets such good reviews.

Nice but needs refurbishing

The place is perfectly functional and mostly clean, but the room I was in desperately needs an update and repairs. The metal chair outside the entrance door was dirty. The bathroom window was broken and would not open. The bathroom door would not close. The baseboard heater in the bathroom was somewhat taken apart and unassembled. The shower unit needs retiling. The shower handle works but is loose and tricky to operate. The bed cover was disheveled and not flat and hid an ink stain on the cover that is apparent when the bed is made. The room was clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. The place is reasonably priced, and the nice village with its shops, co-ops, and historic area is within walking distance. I would stay here again, but it would be nice if the place were refurbished, repaired, and updated.

Probably good for a one night stay, not four nights. Pros. Right next to the highway exit. Conveniently located. Beds were comfortable. Area is lovely. Cons. Their breakfast area could use a cleaning and hot coffee. The place looked rundown and unkempt. Ceilings had moldy patches and there was peeling paint on walls and ceilings. Towels were stained with rust or other.

My stay here was perfect for what I was looking for, just a one night stay in the area. The property is dated but the accommodations are clean and the surrounding area is extremely quiet and secluded, but the parking lot is well lit and safe. I would stay here again if I needed a short term accommodation.

It was a good place to stay for a night! The room could have used some work-such as the door, trim, and other areas were pretty dirty or stained, but it looked like they tried to paint over it!

Staff was welcoming and very professional. The breakfast was ample, fresh, easy with variety, and I love those fresh waffles. My room was very large with lots of towels and toiletries and an iron and ironing board. Natural beam ceilings. Very tidy and clean and the parking was very well lit and safe feeling. My one concern in room 202 was that the plumbing in the bathtub did not flow out well when I ran the shower, but that's an easy thing to fix and I bet that the conscientious staff will immediately see to that with this report. It was a great stay, so easy off the highway, pleasant even though I arrived around midnight, and I'd return. While I was unable to stay in town long, I learned from a fellow guest that there is good recreation in the area. I think the owners take a lot of pride in the property, treating me with formality and friendliness, and that was lovely!

The Putney Inn is very comfortable and friendly. Love that there is a mini-fridge and a microwave in the room. Also the coffee maker is handyeven though there was excellent coffee in the office every morning. The room needs some updating. The carpet was frayed by the door. The bathtub was a bit stained. Also the design choices were sad. There are two prints in the room with exactly the same scene. It would be nice to have some lighter brighter colors for the bed, curtains, and carpet. Overall, the room was nice, clean, and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone staying in Putney
