2 Bedrooms Duplex Apartment, enterely renovated in a classified historical building, with very high standing, located in the heart of the historical city of Oporto, with unforgettable views on the Dom Luis Bridge, Douro River from one side, and Palacio da Bolsa, Sao Francisco Church and Infante Dom Henrique Square from the other side.
This apartment is located on the last and 5th floor of a building with an elevator. This building is known as Baron Forrester has spent some time leaving there.
Joseph James Forrester devoted a part of his life in a laborious survey of the River Douro, with a view of improvement of its navigation and a separte map of the port Wine districts, reprinted in England in 1852 by order of a select committee of the House of Commons. He was created Baron de Forrester for life in 1855 by the crown of Portugal, made knight commander of the orders of Christ and Isabella la Catolica, and received the cross of chevalier of various orders of his adopted country.
This Duplex is a real unique diamond in the historical center, with 2 Suites with 2 balconies, one in front of the Infante Dom Henrique Square and the other in front of the Dom Luis Bridge.

Sleeps two comfortably

The location of this unit was wonderful. The check in process was disappointing as we had to wait in the rain, although I had followed the instructions and reached out to the contact 45 minutes before our arrival. The contact was delayed and apologetic. I contacted the host before booking for confirmation that there was a futon in the living room. There is not. Rather it’s a leather chaise couch. Our 6’2” son had to sleep on it for three nights. It was uncomfortable, short and slippery. The second bedroom had a single mattress that was rock hard. As in, it may as well have been a box spring. The loft bedroom had a comfortable bed. Our bar was high as we had just come from a similarly priced and well-located apartment I. Lisbon that had wonderful. as-advertised sleeping conditions. Clearly, sleeping comfort is a priority for us when we travel and something I pay close attention to, if you can sleep anywhere this unit is ideal for a visit to Porto.

Location, location

We stayed at the same apartment in 2015. The location on the Ribeira is ideal for people who like to walk: a short stroll to the river and the port houses of Gaia, and also to the restaurants up the hill in Porto.Our companions did not like the hard bed in the main floor bedroom, and they complained also about noise at all hours from the street traffic.It was a great place to relax in the evenings, after many thousands of steps during the day.

Excellent location, but use the stairs

This place has an excellent location in Porto and beautiful views, especially from the top bedroom at night. The amenities were good, although could have used a few tea towels. Beds were a bit springy and the pillows quite hard. Our biggest issue was the elevator. It stopped and we got stuck in it for 45 minutes. The call help button company did not speak English so we did not know if they were even coming. Luckily our neighbor across the hall heard us and had been stuck before. She made sure to call the elevator company and kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. Other than that little panic incident, the place was great.

Excellent location and spectacular view of the river from balcony

The property was spacious, beds comfortable and kitchen was perfect. The location was great especially close to really good restaurants. The balcony with river and cathedral views was my favorite. Our host was very helpful and check in was very easy. Would stay here again.

Wonderful apartment near Douro River!

This was an amazing “find”!! Situated within Porto’s famous historic district, you are steps away from terrific cafes, restaurants and popular attractions. The duplex is well-appointed with a modern kitchen, efficient air-conditioning, and scenic views of the Douro River and bridges! Marc (and Rita!) were wonderful hosts, and we look forward to our next visit back to Porto!

Great Location

Location and property were beautiful, well kept, and clean. The check in process was a bit disorganized, and the attitude of the person checking us in was less than positive. Some items were lacking( soap, toilet paper, tissue, etc) but nothing that took away from the positive experience. Overall, I would definitely recommend this property

Marc’s apartment is easy to access and a pleasant, spacious stay. centrally located, you are looking up the hill to cleirgos on one side and across the river to gaia the other. the walks up and down the beautiful neighborhoods will have you feeling very lucky to have an elevator in a historic location. defininitley recommend and would return!

Amazing place with great views

We enjoyed our stay with our friends. It was perfect for two couples. However the upstairs suite will be a battle between the couples. lol. Downstairs sitting would be better if a couple bucket chairs. Just a suggestion. It is close to everything! Book early for this special place!

This location was amazing to walk out your door and visit restaurants and shopping and all the attractions. My only comment would be that my daughter said the downstairs bedroom had a very uncomfortable mattress, but otherwise the apartment was amazing.

The perfect location in Porto!

We loved our stay at this modern apartment near the river in Porto! We were in the ❤️ of the celebrations for the feast of St. John which was a wonderful surprise. The apartment has two suites giving travellers some privacy. Lots of space to relax or eat together as well. Upstairs balcony has a fantastic view of the river and bridges. Bright and clean… we highly recommend it! Could use a sharp knife, a cover for the kitchen drain, a couple more tea towels and 2 pillows for everyone!

When we booked this property, it stated that it had “parking onsite” but beware, there is NO parking onsite. There is underground parking at the park across the way for a fee to the tune of 50€ per day. There is alternative parking .5km down the street to the tune of 30€ per day. Also, this building is not accessible. The so-called elevator doesn’t begin until the 2nd floor, after climbing 30 steps. If you are thinking of booking this property for these two attributes like we did, this is not the property for you. Additionally, this does not sleep 6, it sleeps 4 plus 1 on the sofa that does not fold out to become a bed as claimed. There are no toiletries provided and few towels and toilet paper. The pillows are tiny, and the downstairs bedroom mattress is hard as can be. Otherwise, the location is fantastic, the view is amazing, and despite the challenges, we enjoyed ourselves.

The only place you should stay in Porto

Ribeira is highly desirable in Porto and we just happened to stay at this phenomenal, clean, spacious, comfortable and QUIET place just above all the energy while looking out across the Douro river with the Episcopal palace shining down into our bedroom every night. We had no idea where to stay in Porto but now I know I'd never look elsewhere. Traffic exists everywhere but honestly there is no easier access than this apartment with a parking lot just down the street. Marc and Rita are super communicative, Rita is kind and helpful...even bringing extra towels and pillows for us. A short walk to the bridge to Gaia and near everything you could want to see in Porto. The pictures simply don't do this modern condo justice. Don't worry about the noise outside, they have soundproofing that is solid and the upstairs balcony is romantic and peaceful.
