Not recommended at all. Go elsewhere.

A bit of a last minute call - this is a local motel in the streets below Centro - a more polluted and busy, down-at-heel area, which is cool but not recommended. The motel was not great overall. Staff were fine but rooms disappointing and super basic. Hot, without charm, and mattresses like boards of wood. Pretty uncomfortable. Bathroom not clean at all. Many other places offer infinitely more charms for the same price but we were in a fix.

Bed broken, facility dirty, run down, toilet did not work, no pillow cases, rock hard pillows, no locks on windows, dirty and dingy towels with holes in them. No outlets, bathroom filthy, and then the place charges us a late fee for checking out a little later. It was horrible and ruined our vacation!!

Noise and centrally located

Location was great. Couple of blocks from the Zócalo, mercado and artesanías. However the acoustics are horrible! The way the hotel is designed all sounds and voices coming from guests and staff, no way to escape them, day or night!!

Bad staff

1) no one at reception speaks english! 2) they didn't want to check me in without PRINTED reservation! Confirmation in the phone wasn't enough! They made me wait for 30 mins in the lobby, after traveling 6 hours in the bus! 3) there was no hot water in the shower for 1 hour!!! 4) they didn't let me leave my big backpack in the hotel for 2 hours!!! So I had to walk around the city with it!!! The room and location was fine, but not people who work there. I would not stay there again!

Basic hotel in Oaxaca

Well situated basic hotel in Oaxaca, has soap and towels in the room. If you plan on bringing a car make certain you let the hotel know in advance. They ran out of parking space when I got there and some arguing was necessary. Initially the managers was very unhelpful and frustrating but he fixed it in the end.

Staff is really helpful and friendly. They were able to accommodate our request to switch rooms. We had a room on the first floor near the front of hotel. The sound of traffic was pretty bad so we asked to switch the next day. The second room we got was on the second floor, near the back. Although we couldn't hear traffic as much, noise was still an issue as doors are made of metal and are closed really loudly. We could hear lots of furniture moving around and voices of other guests. The building condition is ok and rooms are basic. The staff does a great job in keeping everything as clean as possible. The hot water in the shower takes a long time to warm up. Aside from the noise, this hotel is a decent place to stay as there are many things to see and do in and around Oaxaca.
