Cabin heaters (gas) were not able to keep the cabins (we booked 2) warm, and were not able to produce the artificial fire effect. Very disappointing.

The perfect little rainforest fern filled oasis to stay. The two waterfalls on the hotel's back trail were beautiful. The best we'd seen in the whole of Tasmania. They need to advertise that more. We loved the rustic feel of the cabins. We felt like we were at the snow but surrounded by ferns instead. Sure you can tell it was fitted out in early 90's but it was fine. Most cabins are terrace cabins where you share one wall (which is quite fine if you have a reasonable neighbour) but you can also book standalone chalets. We had a great 'rest' day there after walking Cradle Mountain. We still walked two hours to see Champagne and Bridal falls on the hotel's property but it was so lush, tropical, mossy, and beautiful. Next day we left to do Cradle Mountain before heading to Strahan. Had great meals at the restaurant on the property and staff were really lovely. The nicest people. Just a really relaxing getaway.

I was excited to see this place but it’s not like the photos, very dated and remote, and it’s an 8km gravel road off the main road. The food was average, again, nothing like the photos, breakfast was cold but we were still charged $25 each. The location is amazing but not much to do, no tv and limited internet so take a book or only stay for 1 or 2 nights. We were going to cancel our 3rd night but couldn’t get a hotel elsewhere. We won’t be going back which is a shame because this place has a lot of potential.

We stayed at the Lemonthyme Wilderness Retreat on a recent trip to Tasmania. It was our last night on our holiday and a very nice and different style of accommodation compared to the usual hotels we had stayed at. It was lovely to sit out on the peaceful verandah listening to the birds. We had no trouble with the wifi (other reviews had mentioned this as a problem). We did see a booster in our room which must have helped. The gas fireplace in the room is a lovely touch. The accommodation is two cabins together, but we did not hear our neighbours at all luckily. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The dinner was lovely, we had the lamb and the pork meals and the garlic damper which was all nice. The menu is limited but is the be expected with a smaller dining crowd. The meals were very well priced. The restaurant was lovely with a wood fire area. We did find the breakfast not as well cooked as the dinner though, eg pouched eggs came out like boiled eggs. Many walks around the area, so plan time to experience that. Staff were very friendly.
