The staff is amazing. The breakfast is great and although it’s a bit of walk, the gym is a legit full scale gym and has everything you could imagine. We had a room on the 4th floor and enjoyed the view. I will add that the 1st floor may be a little noisy for light sleepers- you’re downtown Marseille and there is a road encircling the harbor that stays busy until late at night. On the fourth floor we had no problems- the windows actually opened and we could get a great breeze from the harbor and a great sunset. There are some 4 star restaurants if you search for them- follow the locals. Prices are reasonable if you look around. That concludes the hotel - - The City —- Do not come into the train station late at night, it’s a bit rough and they lock the station at midnight, you have pan-handlers and people sleeping out front and no taxi’s - The city is going through some challenges. This has nothing to do with the hotel. The hotel is great but the city has issues with unhoused people, and graffiti everywhere. Some friends we met from Scotland and the UK thought this had artistic elements- however, the graffiti defaced everything and it’s everywhere. There is a disenfranchised group here as well that seems to have congregated due to the warmer weather and proximity to other countries. At times I didn’t know if we were in south Eastern Europe, or still in France. The hill country surrounding the city is immaculate as are the waters of the harbor and surrounding sea.
