The property was exactly as described - we had a double room, and room and bathroom were spotless. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning was good. The property is located on the no 28 tram route (this starts at 6am and stops at midnight) not a concern for us but might be for some. Staff were very helpful. We found some really good small restaurants within 5 minutes walk of our accommodation. Would recommend staying here if visiting Lisbon.

Fado, history and food.

If you really want to experience the heart of old Lisbon, this is the place to stay. It’s a little tricky being as the sidewalks are only 6 inches wide, and the tourist tram 28 runs right by the window. However, step out the door and you are in a different world probably that you’ve ever experienced, little alleys and stairways leading off all over the place and this area is definitely old and ancient. It’s amazing. It’s such a tourist area for being an old slum. Really enjoyed my stay, but I can’t say it would be for everybody. We never went on the tram because they look packed like sardines, and I would rather eat them from a can. We were there for the history and the Fado and we found both in plenty in between drinking espresso and eating many pastries. Our favorite restaurant and Fado house was Alfama grill. Walk and enjoy and go to the fado museum.

We were not advised of the street closure which made it very difficult to transport our luggage to and from available taxis. For handicapped people, this was devastating.

The accomodations were good, the only issue is the loud traffic, especially the trams going up and down the narrow road. If using Google maps to locate it, it takes you close but not quite there.
