The Beach Retreat and Lodge is a great place to stay. The location was awesome, the beds were super comfortable and when you walked out of the lobby into the back of the hotel, a lovely resort awaits you. Being right on the magnificent Lake Tahoe with a beach/ chaise lounges and a tiki bar makes for a wonderful stay!

This resort has an absolutely spectacular location with a beautiful sandy beach and fun tiki-themed beach bar. We opted for a beachfront room with a full, unobstructed sandy beach view. It cost a pretty penny but we knew we were splurging on the view and they definitely delivered. View was gorgeous. Sunsets were stunning. I got to swim in Tahoe for the first time since I was 10 or 11 years old (I'm 50 now) which was magical. There was a fairly sizable hiccup with our check-in which resulted in us not getting into a room until close to 6pm despite arriving at the resort at 1pm, but staff were apologetic, worked hard to resolve it, and gave us a discount on our room rate, so we felt it was handled as professionally and expediently as could be expected or desired. We loved that they are dog-friendly. To other middle-aged travelers I will say that this is definitely Party Central with tons of younger people being out and about and LOUD until fairly late at night, so just know what you are booking. Next time we are in the area we will probably look for a quieter and more relaxed/low-key accommodation that will better compliment who we are and what our objectives are: however I don't hold this against the resort at all. They offer the experience they offer: it was I who should have done more homework/researched more thoroughly. Overall it was an enjoyable stay, though probably a one-and-done for us.

Fabulous property! Nice, clean and comfortable. Great restaurant on the pier, especially if you visit for sunset. Bit of a walk into Heavenly but all flat and nice to be in a quieter location.

Pictures on the site were not accurate and location is actually very congested. This was our first time in the area getting the lay of the land. First morning a car alarm woke us up at 7:00, cars are parked right up in front of units, beach cantina was loud into the night with super drunk people (drinking games. Etc. but no dancing or live music—it was more a get wasted vibe. Lobby area was lovely but people are mostly there to work on their laptops with loud conference calls all morning. We were clearly out of place there as a vacationing family. Access to beach was nice but there was no seating or towel service so you had to kind of just stand around or know to bring your own chairs. The welcome letter said rooms would be serviced daily unless you requested NOT to. After waiting two days we called the front office and the lady made up something about only offering it every three days. By then we were swimming in dirty towels and would have planned if they had told us service wasn’t available. This property claims to be “all inclusive” but their biggest selling point is the lake and the neighboring boat rentals (amazing place!). I did like their coffee machine and access to s’mores for the kids but given the cost of these rooms we are used to getting a little more. The hotel itself is over priced and located on a very busy street and it is surrounded by parking lots. The people working there (except for one lady) were extremely nice and friendly.

Nice location right on the lake. The restaurants on site had great food. The tiki bar outside out nice. The rooms were nice but need some updating. The carpets need be replaced. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall, the place was pretty nice: Good location, right at the beach, had an outdoor beach bar, hot tub, pool, room had a gas fireplace. Room was very small. Housekeeping never came during the 3-night stay. The sink was clogged, and had difficulty streaming movies by 9:00pm. Had to change rooms to get better wifi connection.

1. I selected pay at hotel, yet the hotel charged first night on my card. Called hotel and they said that’s their policy 2. Tamera at the Sidelines is awesome. 3. Our room had a nice view of the lake but not sure if a/c or some type of machine on the roof that made a loud noise 24/7 so we could not enjoy the balcony or leave the slider open at night.

The front desk person during chek in time was very rude and spoke with attitude. The room we got is in 2nd floor and for both the nights on the 3rd floor they keep jumping on the floor and it resounded on the 2nd floor. This was my worst stay in a hotel

The property is a bit run down and is party hotel. We were traveling with young children and booked a beach front room thinking that would be enjoyable with the kids. However our room was next to the tiki bar that blasts music from around noon until 10pm at night. The crowd is very loud and wild. We tried to keep our children off the balcony because we saw people falling down drunk, puking, get kicked out of the tiki bar and then someone's wallet be stolen out of their back pack on the beach. The bar guests were smoking right outside of room which was really gross to us. We enjoyed the pool more than the beach as it was as wild. The rooms were okay, felt clean enough to sleep in but the walls in the bathroom were pretty gross. No microwave but did have a mini fridge. Overall I would never stay at this property again, there are many other options that are more family friendly in the area. I now remember why we always opt for short term rentals instead of hotels. When I was in my 20's this place would have been fun but not when traveling with kids who need to go to sleep at 8:30pm.

it was okay just neede more blankets it was 5 of us and we had to share the blanket witch was small. the hotel was nice but we did have to keep asking for towels they would give us 1 for a family of 5. towel rack at pool was always empty the parking was mostly full because of people going to beach would park in guest parking. instead of actually towing people’s cars that were not guest at the hotel they didn’t care.

Overpriced room in very poor condition. Walked into a room with a very dirty flooring. The room also has a bad smell. Walked into the bathroom and the toilet seat, on both top and bottom, and bowl were stained with human feces. Shower also appeared as it hadn’t been cleaned. After 5 hours of driving with 2 toddlers, I didn’t have the energy to look for a new place to stay or complain to staff. The lobby was always full of people and staff looked overwhelmed as it was. Also, when showering, all the water leaks out of the shower and nearly floods the entire bathroom. I had to use all the provided towels and some to contain the water in the tiny bathroom. Room is very outdated. Not really kid friendly either. You can hear footsteps all around you. Pool are had 0 towel and beach access was littered with trash.

No hot water in our building for three days! They said they were setting up a system for morning showers in the other building but when I went to the desk at 7am to get the key for the shower room the clerk had no idea what I was talking about. Typical for the property. Lots of 'deferred maintenance' and poorly trained staff. They make their money from having a really great location.

Our room was not cleaned, which left us not only with a messy room, but also with full trash cans, no clean towels, no toilet paper, or sand-free floors, and the staff's response was extremely rude and unhelpful. The resort's older, motel-like atmosphere and poor customer service make it a place I would not revisit.

Immediately on entering room, it smelled like cheese. Walls in room were dirty and everyday we rec’d towels that had stains or looked dirty. Pool was clean but no towels and beach was incredibly small. No gym so amenities fee was overpriced for very little to no actual amenities other than parking. Beds were comfortable. Pictures were entirely misleading. Looks nothing like the pictures we saw online on Expedia. Towel rack was broke and shower leaked regularly.
