Things to Do in Kuta
The surfing here is epic, with best-in-class shore and reef breaks spread along the coast. Don't worry if you don't know how to surf there's a calm and reliable beginner's break on the beach at Selong Belanak, making it a great place to catch your first wave. You can also explore beautiful Mawun, which is sheltered in a natural bay and has an easy beach break and excellent swimming conditions. If scuba diving is more your thing, Kuta offers pristine, healthy reefs supporting a thriving and colourful ecosystem of tropical fish. If you'd prefer to stay dry but still want to be out on the water, avoid “pier” pressure and pal up with one of the friendly locals, who can help you hire a boat for a day's fishing at sea. Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
Markets and small shops are full to the brim with local arts, crafts and clothes, and while the owners love to make a sale, they are relaxed about it, leaving you to comfortably browse. Local women hand-weave multi-coloured fabrics that are the perfect treasures to bring home. Buy from a collective, and your money will directly support families and villages. Lombok is also renowned for its black clay pottery, which you can pick up all over the island.
Hungry? You'll be happy to hear that Kuta is crammed with large and small eateries serving up generous and tasty portions of Indonesian and international fare. Like most of Indonesia, the seafood here is fresh and flavourful, so rest assured you won't leave the table hungry. Kuta also has an array of bars and restaurants ready to deliver icy cold bottles of Bintang, Indonesia's national beer, or a freshly made cocktail. Some will have live music, with bands that are happy to take requests. Many of Lombok's restaurants screen popular movies after dark, or you can cruise to the main tourist enclave of Senggigi for more live music and the island's nightclubs.

Raja Hotel Kuta Mandalika Resort & Convention
My room has a view of the pool, there was 3 lifts to this huge hotel, but 2 was awaiting maintenance and was turning off. The view from the breakfast restaurant was all that this over priced hotel was worth paying for.
