Breakfast was excellent and attentive staff for dining in the morning, but sitting at the bar in the evening by the pool was hit and miss. Also rarely received poolside staff to take our drink or food order. Hotel said updated, but the room was still below a 5 star hotel room. The updating was not enough, more like bandaid fixes. (They kept the popcorn ceilings, and paint was so thick on the closet doors ... they should have just replaced the closet doors.) Also, we could hear through the walls, so sleep wasn't great. Work was still going on at the property and we would have appreciated that being noted on the website before booking. Views were great of the ocean, grounds nice and mongooses roaming everywhere.

The rooms are very spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and there are quite a few amenities. This was my second visit, I came back because the first visit was so good. There are two pools (adult and family), a tiki/pool bar, a restaurant and coffee shop. It's a little off the beaten path and has plenty of (paid) parking. There are great views of the ocean and sunsets. You receive a few gifts when you check in, at least I have twice now. I recommend this hotel for travel.

Wonderful resort! If you can, definitely opt for the club access. The food & drinks are well worth it, we saved quite a bit of money that way. We enjoyed the pool and the luau did not disappoint! It’s proximity to the manta ray snorkel sites is super convenient too. Only thing is that it’s a little further from everything else in Kona, but that didn’t bother us too much. Overall great stay!

convenient and accessible to mostly everything we wanted to do! if you want volcano and hilo activities you can still get to them but you gotta be ok with driving. our room was always clean, staff were all VERY NICE, and all went the extra mile. i felt safe, comfortable and happy while i was there. i did not appreciate having to pay to park but i do realize its not all inclusive ( which is what i have done in the past) pool is separated so you are not all over the kids which is nice( you get that adults only feel) downside is no sandy beach unless you drive north but it is the big island so you would have to select somewhere to stay that has a beach if that is higher on your priority list. manta ray snorkeling was RIGHT at the resort and i was so thankful for that! lots of stray cats as well- i love cats so i had no issue with it!! nice little gym- kinda small but it wasn’t the worst plus i don’t work out daily on my vacation anyway! also we could never find the hot tub….. breakfast buffet is kinda pricey- i just had to begin to understand that again it’s just pricier in hawaii and not all inclusive so if you can get past all that, you’ll be fine. i enjoyed my stay and would do it all over again

Stayed in November 2025. I paid extra to upgrade the room and the view was nice, but service was very disappointing. There were no bath towels, and leftover food was still in the refrigerator. The room phone did not work, so I had to go to the front desk. The female staff member who called later was rude and did not apologize. The bathroom outlet was broken, so the hair dryer could not be used. It felt like the room was not checked before our stay. I asked the front desk for housekeeping after 11am, but housekeeping came around 8am saying they were not informed. Staff communication was very poor. Some staff were great, especially housekeeping and the person who cleaned the fridge at night. They were polite and helpful. The main problem was the low level of front desk service. At the restaurant, the woman with dreadlocks was rude, and the coffee was low quality even though it was nearly $20 for two cups. I have stayed at many hotels around the world, and this was the worst customer service I have experienced. Considering the price, the value felt below that of a budget hotel. Not recommended if you expect a comfortable stay.

Spacious, clean room with an awesome view of the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff. Loved breakfast and snacks at the 47Club. The pools and water slide were great. I loved the location. My wife was very happy

We loved our stay at the Outrigger Kona. The resort was stunning and so well maintained and clean. The pool was perfect and not over crowded. Great access to chairs and shade. Parking was easy and convenient. My only slight complaint was with the food around the pool. The selection was minimal, cost was way too high and they were always delivered in huge paper bags that just seemed a waste. Nothing to ruin an otherwise fabulous stay. We felt location was convenient to everything however that means a drive to everything including food. Food options nearby were incredible as well.
