The hotel was a lovely listed building and with a bit of tlc could be fantastic. There seemed to be a lack of staff that knew what they were doing. They were pleasant but service was slow and often they were unable to answer our questions. Our room (5) was a pleasant room but as it was very hot we needed the windows open and found the itchen extract and the road noise disturbing.

Staff were amazing. Quite tired, but you can see they have improved in areas. The shower said it takes 10 minutes for hot water to come through, its an older building. I gave up after 20 mins. Shower head needs descaling too. Attention to detail makes a difference. Staff were great though

Hotel was ok, no food available Monday or Tuesday evening. Just instant coffee, no filter coffee at breakfast but filter machine still there they just said they had stopped doing filter coffee. No shower gel in the shower. Room key didn't have extra key to get through late night door. Small TV Bed was nice, clean sheets. Pub down the road 5mins walk was ok for food.

Very good staff but room disappointing

This was a one night stop while we were down at Goodwood. We did a late check-in, the staff were extremely helpful around this both in advance and on the night. The staff service was very good all round. However the room and bathroom looked quite tired. Items such as the head board appeared to be just wedged between bed and wall, small bare spots in the carpet, cracked tiles, old holes from previous fixtures and mouldy grout in the bathroom. Breakfast was very nice.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy not only inside the hotel but in the grounds aswell. The beds were comfy although would of been nice if they had a larger quilt.

Great Friendly Staff. Percfect Stay

This is the second time at this hotel. I grew up at Hayling Island and this visit was for a family funeral The wake was at the venue. On arrival the staff were super efficient and very friendly The room was toasty and well equipped. Housekeeping was spotless. Whoever we encountered nothing was aproblem. The late check was a bonsu for us. The wake was at the manor suite and Kerry and the team worked hard to make it run smoothly I would highly recommend this hotel

Reminded me of Fawlty Towers

We went to this hotel for a birthday party evening, which went really well. Excellent buffet bar in the party room, however it did not have draught beer only bottled. The real ale was kept in the fridge, a big No No. The bartender did agree to take out some bottles to allow them to acclimatise to room temperature. Outside our bedroom window was the exhaust from the kitchen extractor fan, when we first walked into the room, we thought it was the air con running. There is no air con. The fan was really noisy, but thankfully it was turned off overnight, but on again at about 7.20 am. Despite the notice in the bathroom explaining that the property is very old and it can take 10 minutes of running the bath tap and shower before the hot water comes through, after 20 minutes, there was no hot water, it had clearly run out. What a waste of water. We weren't the only room like this. Despite knowing how many people were booked in overnight and potentially for breakfast, the dining room is not big enough for everyone, ten of us in our group were set up in the bar area, as were a couple of other families. The flow of hot food for breakfast was spasmodic. In the evening, I reported that the light at the top of the stairs, a most important light, was not working, it was not fixed by the next morning. Wouldn't stay there again, ever.
