This place was very kitschy (in a good way) and the room was clean. We had to ask for towels and extra toilet paper several times. The breakfast was fresh and they offered a good variety. We had issues regulating the water temperature in the room which got extremely hot. There’s construction going on the outside, so it was a little messy. The adjoining restaurant was good and pretty affordable for Iceland. The hotel was one of the highlights of our trip due to its unique decor. I hope they don’t change that about the place it’s incredibly unique/fun!

The building is very cool inside and out. The room was clean and the staff were very kind. I enjoyed my stay, however there was some construction outside my window so I couldn’t sleep in as long as hoped. But I would still stay there again in the future!

Parking was a bit of a hassle. Other than that everything was ama. Very unique decor and breakfast was healthy and variety of continental food. Not exactly in town 20 minutes drive to Reykjavík.

The rooms are not as nice as the work they put into the aesthetics of the outside. Odd shower arrangement, no nightstands, tv in weird spot, blackout curtains don’t fully do their job, etc. Did not try the restaurant so no comment there.

Staying at Hotel Viking was such a memorable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the unique and immersive Viking-themed décor throughout the hotel and restaurant. Every corner felt like part of a living museum—so much attention to detail, and it really added to the charm. The on-site restaurant was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and offered a great taste of traditional Icelandic cuisine. The ambiance in the restaurant matched the theme perfectly, making the whole dining experience feel special. We also loved relaxing in the hot tub and sauna after long days of exploring. It was the perfect way to unwind and warm up, especially in the cooler weather. Overall, Hotel Viking is a fun, comfortable, and culturally rich place to stay. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting a unique experience with great amenities and food!

This is a value hotel with very small rooms. The Viking theme is fun and unique, but also dark and dated. It's well situated for walking around Hafnarfjörður, but things to see there are limited. The breakfast is good, typical European fare.

fun place, great location!

Hotel Viking was such a funny and charming little place — we really enjoyed our stay! It had great parking and was perfectly located between Reykjavík and the airport, which made it super convenient for our itinerary. The blackout curtains were fantastic — a must-have when it’s still daylight at midnight! The hotel has a very kitschy, themed vibe that added a fun twist to the experience. It definitely didn’t take itself too seriously, which we loved. All in all, it was perfect for our needs, and I’d definitely recommend it to others looking for something a little different and well-located.

Comfortable and clean room. Ultra-friendly staff, excellent breakfast, such amazing decor, great location!! Take the city bus #1 to get to it (I wish I’d known that beforehand). Also the FlyBus stops right out front for getting to the airport. The restaurant was amazing!! A Viking serenaded us. Would absolutely recommend and stay again!
