Outside the Sonesta looked nice, lobby and breakfast area was nice as well. Elevator old and slow. Carpets worn out. My room was decent liked it was a suite with a table and kitchenette. I liked there was a small couch and bed looked nice. Bathroom had chipped toilet seat and ground by sink and tubs stained. Overall it was a nice stay nothing fancy. Breakfast was decent. If some upgrades were made would be nice. Walls are thin so I can hear people walking and talking in the hallway.

Cynthia, the manager was very nice to us. All the staff was really friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. There’s lots of variety there and fresh bread fresh buns fresh fruit was available along with a hot breakfast with eggs, bacon sausage, etc. it was delicious. We had a great time there for a couple of days and the rooms were absolutely amazing. I’ve never seen a room so big it was beautiful. We hope to come back another time soon.

I stayed at this hotel for 7 days with my husband and 2 kids. We took the 2 bedrooms with 3 beds. ( 1 king and 2 queen) i loved the room, decoration, size and kitchenette. The only issue i had was the cleaning. They only clean the room when it is given to a new customer. Nevertheless, i still had to ask for new sheets as the ones we had were dirty ( not only stains but actual stuff sticking on them) on the 4th day i asked for someone to clean the room and was told it was only done on Monday! I just needed a bit of vacuuming and someone to empty the full garbage cans in the room! Also it has many pets and I think they do not have a water softener as i had an allergic reaction throughout my stay and it got better when I left! Another point is that their breakfast ends so early 8:30 so if you are on vacation to relax and are a late sleeper i would not recommend it.

The location is great, close to everything. But the rooms were very worn down. Our first room before we switched was dirty with hair, finger prints on the appliances and dirty dishes, plus the toilet seat was broken. The front clerk was very nice and switched us rooms, even in that room the carpet was coming up and the bathroom didn't latch. We didn't want to move the kids again so we stayed. I would say I wouldn't be staying at this place unless it was updated.

This property is aging and the cleaning of the rooms could be better but for the price it’s decent. The outside looks very nice the inside needs done work but the rooms are spacious and again price is very reasonable. The bathroom was dirty specifically the toilet which is alarming and definitely not nice to walk into. I will pay the extra money to stay elsewhere in the future for this reason. Def a 2 or 3 out of 5.

Health Hazard - Extensive Mold and Dirty Rooms

I recently booked a stay with the Sonesta Resort hotel in Auburn Hills. My family and I had just driven a long distance and were expected to stay in the hotel for 11 days after my husband got transferred to the Detroit area for work. In short; the conditions of the room were dirty and a health risk. I have never in my life wrote a bad review for a hotel regardless of the circumstances. I have never left a hotel regardless of how bad some of the conditions have been. In the case of this hotel I was forced to leave due to health reasons and was not honored a refund like I was promised. To sum things up, our first room had an entire wall of mold. There was hair/dirt on the bed, grime spills all over the walls and a musty smell. We got switched to a new room 5 mins later and while the room did not have mold there was urine on the toilet, a tomato on one bed, and chunky food stains on two of the other beds. We asked if housekeeping could come up and switch out all the beds due to all the sheets being dirty. They instead came up and handed up one sheet saying this is all they had left in the entire hotel. We ended up going downstairs asking to check out due to the conditions. We were told the hotel was just purchased and the rooms we were put in were not remodeled yet. They stated they’d get us a refund given the circumstances, but weeks later have still not honored that. We left for health reasons and were forced to book a hotel twice the rate last minute.

We had to ask for a vacuum cleanser to vacuum. We think they were rushed to clean the room and forgot. No extra tools of toilet paper. Called the desk to get some they said they would bring it but never did.

carpet filthy. Phone didn't work. Breakfast area messy, food cold, pancake maker didn't work. One bed sagged.

This property is not the cleanest. Stains on walls, doors and on furniture. This is also an extended stay so children and young people are quite noisy, I’m talking like yelling down the hall at 2AM. However the breakfast was great and the staff is lovely and they are very helpful and wonderful people. Sonesta can you update this property? I think y’all need to get on that!
