I selected this hotel because the website stated a "free shuttle to/from the airport". I called 2 days prior to arriving to verify & mentioned I had a late evening arrival - would it be a problem. The response was No and thank you for letting us know in advance. My flight was delayed the day of arrival and I again called to let them know. I was told the shuttle would not run after midnight. I arrived at 11:50 & proceeded to call for the shuttle. I was told they were done for the night and not available. I proceeded to obtain a cab which cost me $35 with tip. The man at the desk when I arrived "insultingly" offered to pay half of the fare, to which I declined. There should not have been a fare at all. The room was nice, but the night check-in male was rude.

We were more than surprised & pleased with our room. I had booked a King Suite.. did not remember info as I had booked months prior.. so when we walked in I thought they had put us in the wrong room. I rechecked my booking info lol Price was amazing. Hotel is used a lot for conferences so has so much more than most do. Arcade, great pool, gym & bigger store than others as well as some other areas. Our room was very clean and very spacious with a full separate living room, big bedroom with 2nd TV & second refrigerator & microwave, big bathroom & smaller kitchen area & table. Laundry was reasonable & had multiple of each. Could not have asked for better with one of the best buffet breakfast we had in the 14 days on the road. Offered more than most along with bacon too. Great big variety. It fit into where I had wanted to stay location wise as well. Stores & other food locations are about 5 minutes away. Downtown about 15-20. Close to airport if needed. We had a great 2 nights. Comfy bed, great WiFi, shower was very good as well. Very private were we were located & we felt very safe in. Highly recommend.

This was an unexpected gem. My wife and I needed a DM airport hotel for one night after a late night flight arrival, and chose Baymont mostly because it was significantly less expensive than the ones closer to the airport. When we arrived, the night manager Randall was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was terrific, in every respect. They have better amenities than most hotels, including a room full of things you can buy that is more like a mini-convenience store than a hotel sundry shop. The fitness center is head and shoulders above what most hotels provide, and the arcade has pool tables, cornhole, pinball machines, and other fun stuff. And the best part is the breakfast -- because this hotel is owned (or managed) by a trucking company in large part for its truckers (the ones we met were friendly and fun to talk with), Baymont has a breakfast chef (James) whose buffet is at least one big notch above the breakfasts at most hotels -- it was so good that my wife and I loaded up and I then had what was essentially what the hobbits would call second breakfast. We'll stay at the Baymont anytime we come through Des Moines again.

Not as advertised. Property is listed as family friendly, however, it is a trucking school that rents extra rooms out to the public. Families with young children and/or daughters would not feel safe surrounded by the volume of men who linger in the common areas at all hours of the day and night. The technology in the rooms is outdated and there is, what appears to be a rubber ring, nailed to the wall. It is disgusting. The front desk staff is not helpful and states that complaints need to be made to Expedia, not to them. This property should removed from the Expedia site immediately.
