Understaffed and Chaotic
Trash was lining the hallways when we arrived to check in. Apparently no one even knew about it because later that evening I saw the desk clerk rushing around with a dumpster trying to clean it up. He seemed embarrassed that it was like that. The overnight desk clerk was unfriendly when we asked for more towels and a blanket. We had called for them but could tell they were short staffed so went down to get them. Breakfast was a disaster. They kept running out of food and dishes. People were waiting to eat and only one person was working back there. It was spring break so lots of upset kids in the morning waiting on breakfast.
The hotel had a thing in the room saying your room would be cleaned every day and that fresh towels would be brought in. This didn’t happen at all. The second night we were there we just grabbed some extra clean towels from the pool area to take to our room for showers. The guy from the first night that checked us in and cleaned up the trash was the only person who seemed like he cared about how the hotel looked and ran. You could tell he was trying to make things better and he was really nice even though he was clearly stressed.
Overall it was obvious that the hotel was understaffed and that many of the employees were not happy there. I’ve stayed at Hilton Homesuites before in other cities and this experience was a first.
