Beautiful cottage
This is a beautiful home and we really enjoy our stay. The owner was super responsive and really thoughtful she left us lots of little details to assist our stay with our baby.

Disappointingly shabby
The owner sounded lovely on the phone, and was very helpful and quick to respond when we had to contact her. The problem was that the description of cleanliness was way out. The fiirst thing we had to do was wash the kitchen floor and wipe down the units as they were actually sticky and unpleasant. The sitting area rug was filthy. All of the net curtains were very badly frayed and grubby and the toilet had a lot of peeling paint and no door or curtains other than a net curtain that can be seen through when the light is on. None of the many sets of fairy lights worked, a small thing, but if they are all over the place, some at least should work. On the plus side the bed was clean and comfortable. The parking was on the street, but we didn't have a problem at any time. It could be such a great place if only we hadn't felt mislead by the large nummber of 10 out of 10 cleanliness reports, we are not generally fussy but did feel sad being here.

Pefect property
This beautiful cottage has everything and more for your stay. Location is perfect for exploring the lake district, the coast and Lancaster. We were so comfortable and blessed with the weather, so we could sit outside on the lovely seating area. Never have we stayed anywhere with everything we could possibly need until here. Lovely friendly place too, and I once again wish to thank Katrina for the birthday surprises for my daughter, a massive hit.

Lovely cottage but you should know this…
The cottage was lovely and quirky, as one would expect from a centuries-old English cottage. However, you should know that the bathroom situation is less than ideal. It is on the second floor, which is fine. But it is split by a hallway. The toilet is on the left side of the hallway with only a curtain to divide it from the rest of the space. There are two bedrooms going off of this hallway as well. The shower and the sink are directly across the hallway from the toilet. There is an actual door for that space. You can hear every noise and detect every odor from the toilet space as you can imagine. I shared the space with my mother, and we found the whole situation very weird and uncomfortable. It’s one thing if you are staying in that space with an intimate partner, but any other family member is just awkward. I went back to the listing to see if it mentions the bathroom situation and I somehow missed it, and it did not. I feel like this is holding back useful information to a potential renter. The host addresses the awkward bathroom situation in her information binder, but it should have been addressed in the listing. She even states in the binder that most people don’t find it an issue. Well, it is an issue. After you check in, you are stuck. You can’t check out and get a refund. You really have no choice but to accept it. Despite the fact that we were not happy with the toilet situation, the cottage itself is otherwise lovely. It’s a nice location for exploring the area. The host is very friendly and responsive. Parking was a challenge, but it seems to be that case in small English towns in general.

Great location shame about the heating
Really enjoyed our first couple of nights. That was until the boiler broke Tuesday morning. Host did arrange for someone to come out and fix it however it by time we got back it was broken again. Host then turned up with a bucket of coal another couple of heaters and a bottle of wine. Nothing could be done at 5pm at night. After this though we didn't get any updates on if the boiler would be fixed and the house is very cold without heating we also didn't have any hot water. Not really how we wanted to spend out honeymoon. We left Thursday morning and I was really glad to be heading home to get some warmth. The other issue we had is the toilet doesn't have a door but a small curtain that you pull across. Location however was brilliant. Micro brewery was lovely and the food was great. Warton crag is definitely a good one to walk. We'll definitely be visiting the area again but not in this cottage.
