We loved our stay here, friendly and helpful staff, great facilities (spa, pool, gym and beauty salon), beautiful surroundings. The hall is stunning, we really enjoyed dining there and the live music (piano man) was an added bonus. We will be back!

Everything was good. Gym small but not crowded, pool empty, sauna and jacuzzi always big plus. Room unbelievable good. Staff brilliant. Cant fault it. 1 issue : cleaners or house keepers need to close windows earlier, as found “few” creepy crawlers in the room. Good there was a hoover on hand, also few mosquitoes… other than that can fault it

It is a lovely venue. Very quiet. I am disabled and one of the reception team (Dan) very generously helped me with my heavy suitcase into the room. The room itself (a studio) was 10/10. Absolutely gorgeous. You couldn’t find a better place to stay in the area. I had to drive to my room from check in, but there was parking right outside the building. The pool is open from 8am to 8pm. Though I did not get a chance to use it due to my late check in and early check out. I’ve included this timing information as I couldn’t find it on the website anywhere, and it may help future visitors. It’s a beautiful place. Very clean room. Very luxurious. Plush fixtures and fittings. The bed was incredibly comfortable. It smelled lovely. The bathroom was enormous and the shower was wonderful. I would happily stay here for several weeks! The staff were so friendly and lovely. My one and only issue was the £100 room deposit that you need to pay when you check in. It was a total surprise. I’ve never been asked to pay a room deposit up front before. It was refunded the next day, but I would have preferred to have had notice before my stay. I think the hotel needs to make people aware before they arrive. I give 10/10 overall. It was practically perfect in every way.

We had a fantastic time at Thurnham Hall for a short half term break as a family of 4 (kids aged 3 and 9). Firstly we were really pleased with the price for 3 nights and were even more pleasantly surprised when we arrived with the accommodation. Considering we booked the cheapest/most basic option available it was a wonderfully spacious little stone cottage complete with conservatory that overlooked the park. The kids absolutely loved it. The Hall itself is a wonderful historic building and the restaurant inside was great, we had a fantastic Sunday lunch there and takeaway pizza on another evening. The pool was the winning feature for us, given that the weather was hit and miss the kids were in the pool everyday at least once it really was a saving grace, no extra charge, incredibly quiet, warm and with lovely staff. Communication was great overall, with the ability to text reception at any point with any questions an added bonus. All staff and other residents were incredibly friendly. Overall we can’t wait to make this a regular annual visit during half terms where we explore more of the grounds / Lake District generally.

2nd stay this year really enjoyed it again this time we were in the main premises on the top floor but preferred the appointments out with hotel itself as having 3 kids on top floor just walking makes hell off noise 😀 and not good for people below the bar itself closed Tuesday and Wednesday for some reason that was the only downfall still had fantastic stay

We booked this hotel as the one we stayed in the previous night was awful! This place is awesome! The most friendly staff, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment we booked was huge, well appointed and incredibly comfortable. We will definitely stay here for a longer stay next time we are up this way.

Comfortable but outdated

Clearly a lovely building, but most of the rooms are in a separate part of the grounds. The whole thing is quite tacky and really doesn't scream luxury -- the "spa" is much more like a leisure centre. The room was spacious and comfortable, though clearly old-fashioned, and not entirely clean. The service was totally obstinate when we requested a change of dates, but quick to help when we were there. The hotel feels like it could be good for families with young children, but it is unmistakably a resort hotel, not a luxury one.

2 bedroom apartment, room 42, exceptional… and what a size. Great value for money … we were only a family of 4 but sleeps 6, brilliant for anyone with kids. Super clean and beds so comfortable.
