One of Carataunas' most postcard-worthy places to visit is the Alhambra. The Apartamentos Río Darro and Hotel Anacapri are within an easy walking distance of Alhambra.

The Juan Francisco is 25 kilometres from the central part of Carataunas. Alternatively, the El Balcón de Nieves is located 25 kilometres away. Two other alternatives around Carataunas are the Hotel Santa Cruz and the Melia Sol Y Nieve.

After you have spent some time in Carataunas, take a little time to soak up more of the Andalucia area. Visit the ruins, castles and old towns in Andalucia, or simply head off and admire its beaches and coastal plains. Or join the locals snowboarding, skiing and mountain biking while you are here.

It's well known that we Aussies just love to relax, so consider staying a little longer and check out the Alpujarras Gate and Castle Lanjaron, in Lanjaron, 7 kilometres to the northwest of Carataunas. The Castillo Lanjarón and Alcadima are some of the great hotel options in Lanjaron. Alternatively, you could stay in Almunecar, 35 kilometres to the southwest of Carataunas, where you can pick from the Hotel Almijara and Sol Los Fenicios. Whether you're just passing through or staying in Almunecar, set aside some time to check out the Almunecar Beach, Pena Escrita and Cueva de Siete Palacios Archeological Museum.

Why not spend an afternoon hanging out with local sports fans at a local sporting fixture? You'll find Plaza de Toros de la Malagueta 95 kilometres to the west of Carataunas. The Vincci Malaga and the Hostal Moscatel are both good options if you want to get amongst it.
